Mad Mega Drive II Picture issues

    Hi

    1st post

I have the above (its pal) and has recently started only displaying a black and white image. Previously it was working in colour. I have an after market PSU don't know if this has any bearing on the issues I have. I am willing to take it apart to fix (in fact I have already) but I cant seem to see anything obviously wrong inside....

    Can any one help?

    Cheers in advance

    Mike

Has the console been modded with a 50/60Hz switch?
How are you connecting the console? RF or an AV cable?

There is a possibility that the video encoder is screwed. I blew up an encoder chip and all my colours when black and white.

If you do not have any aftermarket switches on your console then I would say its not modded.
might be easier to just get a replacement console.

    Is it not fixable?

    I would rather do that.....

I suspect that its the video encoder. You would be looking at about $10-$15 for one if you can find one. Here in Australia a replacement MD2 will set you back about $20 so for all the work required and trying to find the part it would probably be easier to just get the replacement.
