April 1992, for my 6th birthday, I went to the local video store with a ten pound note to buy a game. Looking at the Mega Drive games, I saw two that caught my eye: one was Sonic 1 the other had two cartooney kids on it. I brought Sonic 1.

Guess what the kicker was? That game with the cartooney kids on the cover? It was Gunstar Heroes. I chose a game that is now super common over a game that is kinda rare. Don't regret it though, I had many a good time playing Sonic 1, too many to count.

So? You were six, and in 1992 nobody could have known what would one day be a considerably rare game (and Gunstar Heroes isn't even that rare to begin with). Don't know what you should feel regret about.

Now, if you had bought Gunstar Heroes, kept it until, say, 2000, and THEN traded the game in for Sonic - yeah, then you would probably kick your own head in...

I'm saying looking back now and reflecting on that decision with what I should of done if I knew what I knew now. Of course I won't known it then, unless I was psychic and could "read" the future!

Either Sonic2 or Sonic3 for me, on emulation. On my MD I played Sonic1 first.

You do realize that 'Gunstar Heroes' didn't exist until late 1993...

Well it was 93 or 94 then; I can't really remember; it was one of the two. Should of known that. *slaps head*

When I got my Megadrive back in the day it came with Sonic and Streets Of Rage so it would be those 2, I can't remember which game I played first but I think it was SoR.

The first game I actually bought for it was Revenge Of Shinobi

First Genesis game I played = I believe it was Mortal Kombat, back in the early 1990s, when I rented a system (we only had NES/SNES when I was a kid).

First Genesis game I owned = my girlfriend got Paperboy, IMG International Tour Tennis, Jurassic Park, and Doom 32X as free leftovers at a local tag sale in the summer of 2009. At that point I didn't even own a system!

First Genesis game I actually bought = probably an Ebay lot in the fall of 2009
