Your first Genesis game?

I got into sega in 2008 so my actual ACTUAL first game ever on the sega genesis would be ROCKET KNIGHT ADVENTURES

love this game even today.

Sonic 1 was the pack-in and i picked up SoR1 along with it. My mind was blown and I really noticed the jump from 8 to 16 bit. The next time I would feel blown away with a generation jump would be with the Dreamcast (Sonic Adventure and Soul Calibur). I haven't been that impressed with a generation jump since.

Nice! I mean, I've been impressed with (and have immensely enjoyed) games since the Dreamcast launch, but it is the last time I had that jaw-dropping, holy shit, "this feel worlds better" feeling about new console tech, and I doubt I ever will again.

When you start off on a Colecovision, i think it was easy to really appreciate 16 bit gaming and all those arcade ports. The new stuff looks really nice, but I guess I've just come to expect it, so it doesn't impress as much as playing Soul Calibur, or Sonic 1, in the comfort of your own home for the first time.

Mine was Sonic 2. It came with my model 2 Genesis.

To think I got rid of it to get a SNES and Street Fighter 2. I was so young and uninformed

Forgive me if there's already a topic about this. But I'm curious to hear what your first Genesis game was.

^ Same here. It also happens to be the first Sonic game I've played ironically. I used to think the game was awesome when I was younger; it's alright nowadays, don't play it as much. I also thought that Robotnik wasn't the bad guy in the game, but I didn't any pay attention to the story to begin with... so that's probably why I assumed that.

the Genesis I owned, had come with Sonic, Moonwalker, Atomic Robo Kid, Shadow Blasters and Altered Beast -- which was the first game I played.

I got a model 1 with Altered Beast back in 90

Back in the 90s I purchased my model 1 Genny with the Sonic 1 pack-in. I also picked up Hellfire. I spent my time on Hellfire rather than Sonic.

Got my Megadrive in 1992 with Sonic 1 and Golden Axe II.

The first game I owned was Sonic 2, packed in with the Genesis 2. A bud had a Genesis long before me, and the first game I actually played was Sonic 1 (which I didn't like at the time!) He picked up Streets of Rage and Revenge of Shinobi, and I played the hell out of those. He would later sell them all to me.

My first was Altered Beast, and a couple days later I got Space Harrier II.

I bought a used Model 1 with awesome bass sound which came with Flashback and Mortal Kombat II.
