Default Dreamcast VGA advice for audio

Hey all, longtime lurker of this forum as I'm a huge Sega fan!

I need some advice concerning the VGA box for a Sega Dreamcast.

So this is the VGA box I'm most probably going to purchase

I understand that I will also need a VGA cable, so will this be ok?

Finally the one I am the most unsure of, I realize that VGA only displays picture and not audio. What I want to do is get the sound straight out of my built in TV speakers of my Samsung 26 inch LCD Hdtv. I don't want to plug in any extra PC speakers or anything. So with that being said, will this cable do the job?

Any help will be much appreciated as I'm looking to order these ASAP so I can play both Shenmues in the best quality possible

Audio cable I am not sure about, it depends on what input does your TV have for VGA. A lot of them got RCA

As long as your TV has a 3.5mm input jack, and will use it when it's displaying from VGA it should work fine. I used a 3.5mm to RCA cable for a while when I first got one of those boxes and had no issues.

The VGA input on your TV should have a corresponding set of red-and-white RCA plugs for audio. With a simple 3.5 mm jack to dual RCA audio cable you can connect the audio output from the DC's VGA cable directly to your TV, and hear the DC's sound through your TV's speakers.

On some TV's, you may need to configure the audio input to be coupled with the VGA input. My Toshiba TV's setup menu allows me to couple the audio input plugs with either the VGA input or the second HDMI input.

I have that same DC VGA box... one thing I will mention - you CANNOT have the audio out for both (svideo rca out and vga 1/8th out) connected at the same time! It's one or the other. If you connect both sound outputs at the same time, it puts a load on the sound circuit inside the box that causes the sound to become quiet and muffled. The only thing the switch on the side of the box does is assert one line on the av port that identifies the type of video cable connected. With the switch one way, the box IDs as a standard composite/svideo cable, and with the switch the other way, it IDs as a VGA cable.

Other than that, it's really nice. I like mine a lot.
