Default Sega Genesis Model 1 VA2 - Sound pot

So, cutting the history short, I have a non-TMSS Genesis, which I bought sometime ago. I was working quite well, but I always like to open my newly acquired stuff and clean it. However, someone glued the sound pot to the slider, and, when I tried to open the Genesis, I broke the sound pot. By this, I mean that I tore off the small claw that regulates the sound output. I also broke a bit of the rail doing so.

Now, the sound is all distorted, like it is way too high.

Is it easy to find another sound pot? Where can I find one? Also, is it possible to make some kind o workaround so that the volume is normal? I don't really care for having the possibility to adjust, but I want to use the headphone output without problems of distortion.

The slider is 50kOhm. You could use a 20~30k resistor to impose a pseudo middle scale setting.

I don't think you can buy this type of potentiometer anywhere

All you can do is what Jorge Nuno said or buy another MD1 and get the potentiometer from there (or replace the entire motherboard)

EDIT: I searched and found that this sound pot is a "linear potentiometer". Have a look on eBay or somewhere and check if you can find something similar

Nice one. I think I'll go with that, maybe this weekend I'll do it. If it goes well, I'll post it here

'Why' would anybody want to pay $250 for "Digital Distribution Only" with no access to the established library of a 5 year old platform?

It isn't backward compatible with it's own AV cables, power chargers, memory card standard, or UMD library. It only uses a proprietary USB cable for no explained reason. It doesn't even have 802.11g support, it's only 802.11b!

It would be very nice if you could do that. Do you have any idea how much would it cost to ship this to Brazil?
