Talking PS3 or 360? Which one should I buy first?

I'm going to be buying both by the end of the year, but atm, since I don't own an HDTV (1080P), I need to set aside the extra dough to be able to play like it's meant to be. Rather than an argument of which one is the best hardware-wise, or which one offers the most features, I just want to know which one offers the most hardcopy exclussives that would interest me.

The problem is, I'm so far behind with the times, I only know of a couple of games I want. The 360 (250 gig model) calls out to me more, but the PS3 has more exclussives I actually want to play right off the bat. So, can you guys help me decide?

To make things easier for me, just add to the following list: (I'll add your suggestions as I browse them)

    Must Have PS3 Exclussives:
    1. God of War 3
    2. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
    3. Uncharted: Among Thieves
    4. Heavy Rain
    5.

    Must Have Xbox 360 Exclussives:
    1. Raiden IV
    2. Raiden Fighter Aces
    3.

Oh, and answer me this one:
The proper size for my first HDTV on my one bedroom apt is _________". (keep in mind I'll be keeping a huge 32" CRT on the same room and wall, amidst my entire gaming setup and collection).

P.S.> My genres of interest for these platforms are mainly action/adventure games, RPGs, shmups and most of everything that calls out to the hardcore gamer. But I'm sorry folks, I have absolutely zero interest in FPSs, downloadable content or motion controlled games. Thanks again for your help.

P.S.S.> The Assassin's Creed series is the number one reason why I want to jump into the HD generation. So I wouldn't mind a couple of non-exclussive suggestions as well:

Must Have non-exclussive titles for XBox 360/PS3:
    1. Assassin's Creed
    2. Assassin's Creed II
    3. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
    4.

    Xbox360!

Blue Dragon I find is a fine RPG. It's more of a third person shooter, but I actually have a BLAST playing the Gears of War games, and I'm not really into shooters like that at all.

Also, since non-exclusives are alright to mention, might I suggest Ninja Gaiden II? Also, Fable II. Yeah.

Sony's been a sack of dicks this generation, which is why I never bought a PS3.

Xbox dude then we can play some games! Sold my PS3 although IMO either console is a good choice, but I stuck with the Xbox as most of my friends I play online with have it.

The PS3 controller will destroy your hands.
    Xbox 360.

As surprising as it may be I kinda liked the original Xbox library more. And that was really poorly supported.
Some games do work on the 360 though, thankfully.

Personally, I would go with the Xbox 360 first, but the differences between the two consoles aren't really that big. It simply depends on what games you want to be playing.

I'd go with the 360. More enjoyable system IMO. The PS3 likes putting gigs of data on your HD everytime you play a new game. After sitting there for 20 mins. I no longer have the desire to play. The 360 you can put the game in and start playing with little update.

Looks like I'm alone in the PS3 camp. Let's see, some of the more notable exclusives that are not FPS:

    - Ridge Racer 7
    - WipeOut HD
    - LittleBigPlanet 1 & 2
    - Yakuza 3 & 4
    - Metal Gear Solid 4
    - Gran Turismo 5
    - a bunch of Ratchet & Clank games
    - inFamous 1 & 2
    - Time Crisis
    - Valkyria Chronicles
    - Twisted Metal
    - Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 & 2

I don't know why you are against DLC, but there are some really good downloadable exclusives, such as Fat Princess, Mushroom Wars and Bomberman Ultra.

Also, it plays BluRays and online play is free. I prefer the controller, since I think it's the best controller design ever, but that's a personal thing so should not be taken into account.

What exclusives does the XBOX360 have? Halo? Hmm, well, you're not interested in FPS, so that one's out of the question. I think there's also a Gran Turismo rip-off, Forza? Yeah, not really worth mentioning either.

Oh, and this is of course obvious nonsense. You're not forced to install games on your harddrive, it's optional.

    Thanks all. Keep 'em coming.

P.S.> I thought it'd be a given, but I don't plan to buy racers or sports games in general. But keep those suggestions coming.

I've owned a 360 and Wii this entire generation and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything at all not having a PS3. Then again, I rarely have time to play games anymore as is, so that could be a reason.

Not entirely. The PS3 definitely likes you to make you wait a lot when compared to the 360. There are plenty of PS3 games that have a mandatory install. And when the installations are optional, the load times from the Blu-ray are often so excruciating that you'll want to install the game anyway. Thankfully though, developers are getting smarter at this, like installing in the background while playing, that sort of stuff.

Besides the installations, there's also the massive updates that many games will force you to sit through at first startup. Updates on the 360 are never more than a few megabytes, meaning a delay of just a few seconds. But updates of 200+ MB tend to be the rule rather than the exception on the PS3. And in some cases you even get multiple updates in a row. When I first got ModNation Racers for my PS3, about half a year after the game's release, I decided that it would be better to take a nap while the game did its mandatory install and something like 5 huge updates, which took more than an hour altogether to complete.
I also recently downloaded Super Stardust HD, which is about 270 MB, and at first startup I had to download an update of yet another 250 MB. I was like WTF, do I have to download the entire game twice to be able to play it?!

You simply don't get that kind of thing on the 360, the experience is much more instantaneous.

I hate microsoft, but I think it's xbox. They seem to have exclusivity on shooters like Espgaluda 2 and Mushihimesama 2 (or Special--something; I try not to ogle $150 games on systems I don't own), along with all the homebrew stuff. They do have the best, most Saturnine controllers as well.

    360. Easy, IMHO.

    - One of the best pads ever; now that the dpad's been fixed.
    - No more RRoD; at least I hope.
    - A load of good games; most of them on both consoles.
    - Great online.

    Ps3:

    - Free online; that's already been hacked and has aload of people with hacked consoles on it.
    - Pad is just a Dual Shock 2 with shitty triggers.
    - If you're from the land of PAL and you only have a SD set; you can't use 60hz. Games running at 50hz stagger and have loads of slowdown. Which is shit.
    - Only good thing going for it is most models before a firmware date can be hacked; opening up the console to homebrew and emulators.
