Yeah, I guess the term "rare" wasn't the right one to use. They are just hard-to-find in near-mint and complete condition over here.

And I don't believe a game is rare if a seller puts the term in the title or the listing - I know they are just trying to trick some people into thinking it's worth more than it's actually worth. I'm pretty informed about most of the games I intend to buy, and if I'm not, then I do some research about it before I place a bid.

Ebay sellers amuse me. I can't help but smile when sellers claim things like "Super Hang On ultra rare Mega Drive game". Yeah, of course it is.

I guess it's one of those terms everybody uses, but has no real meaning. Like £1500 IN UPGRADES in eBay Motors. Anyone who mentions RRP in a listing is probably trying to pull a fast one, also.

Yeah, tell me about it, Streets Of Rage 3 isn't even rare, but people pay rediculous prices for it and people claim it to be ultra rare. Another fine example is EWJ, a gamer that was listed for £30 on ebay for buy it now for SNES, whilst the listings for auction were like 0.99! When will the madness stop?

$38 for Sonic 3 and Knuckles? Ouch, that's still kind of ridiculous especially since the multiple re-releases of the game drive down its price to almost worthless. You can probably find it here for a combined price of $5 if you wanted to.

The originals are worth it I can assure you. All the re-releases are flawed in several ways, especially in the sound department. Being a big Sonic fan, and having tracked these games on eBay for the last six months, I can only assure you that they are worth the money I paid. Sonic 3 complete rarely goes for anything under $20 here, and I only paid $5 more. S&K usually goes for $30+, and I paid $5 less, so I think I got a pretty good deal. Perhaps in America the games are common as, but not so over here in Australia. And the games I got are the original ones, not the cheap-arse budget releases of the games that come up more often than the ones I got.

I am extremely happy with my purchases, and that's all that matters to me. If I wanted a cart only version, sure I could get it for $5, but I wanted the complete versions, so I had to pay a premium for them.

Well if you're happy I'm happy. I too own the originals and wouldn't want it any other way. It truly is a 16-bit masterpiece and it ruled my childhood for far longer than is probably healthy.

    *blink blink*

Umm... my local game shop has the Sonic 3 and S&K carts for $3 each. Cart only, but still...
It may no longer be the `90s, but there is still time for Klax.

Yeah but as far as I know Australia has only 1 shop chain that sells old school games.
