I have an old windows 2000 computer that I like to goof around on.
It has 2 USB ports. I had a spare wireless USB adapter laying around, so I connected it to the computer and installed the drivers. The wireless card in question is a "Dell Wireless 1450 Dual-band (802.11a/b/g) USB2.0 Adapter". Since windows 2000 has no built in wireless utility (or so I know of), I had to use the provided utility to connect to the network. It connected without a problem. I went to the network connections under the control panel, and I saw an Icon that said "Local Area Connection", and the device associated with it was the wireless device, and it said it was connected. I don't know exactly where to start but, I went to the default built-in Windows Internet Explorer, and I tried to go to Google, but it keeps saying "Page not found". And every time I start the browser, it says I need to create an internet account, but, all the info it wants pertains to a dial-up connection, and not a LAN connection.
How do I make windows use the wireless network adapter, instead of a dial-up connection?
