Yeah, this is a pretty easy one for me. I've never liked Golden Axe - it's so clunky! SoR 1 & 2 are awesome. I've never played 3.
It may no longer be the `90s, but there is still time for Klax.

SoR by far. The GA games are ok, but this poll is incredibly unnecessary. The SoR series is on a completely different level.

I choose Golden Axe just to annoy irritating people.

Streets of Rage is better as a series, like the poll asks, but I think Golden Axe 1 in arcades is the best game out of them all. The MD port is good, but it is degraded a fair bit. Still better looking than Streets of Rage 1, though.

I like the Golden Axe universe more, as well, and music is equal in both franchises.

Also I think Streets of Rage is based off of Golden Axe? Hence why the first game has the police attack and back-attack just like in Golden Axe.

How can someone hate Bo's music and consider themselves a fan of retro SEGA?

You should take yourself out like a true samurai.

Edit: I expect an explanation about why this song below sucks.

I remember being disapointed in Golden Axe 2 because it was too much like the first one and not a huge step up from it like Sor2 was to Sor.

Keep in mind that Golden Axe is an older series. Golden Axe 2 came out at the same time as Streets of Rage 1.

The first GA was good for its time, but, unlike SoR, the series never progressed as a whole.

Streets of Rage progressed as a whole? I thought it was two good games, then a third flop, followed by the series dying.

The two good ones are very good, but the series hit rock bottom and died abruptly.

I love Golden Axe but SOR is a new series and the control shows it. It seems as games evolved programers started to realize the importance of good, precise and fast control. If someone could go back make Golden Axe play as good as SOR I would give them a cookie. I will say the Golden Axe has much more character to it though with the music and characters.

Hey take it easy would ya. Yeah that tune is pretty cool, but it really is an exception. Most of the GA music is pretty bland where as most of the SoR music is pretty kickin' obviously there will be some exceptions.

But if you really wanna go there:

Do you hear that? You know what it's called? That's bass. BASS!!!

Golden Axe actually sucks. It was only good because of its time.

Rock bottom? SoR3 has by far the best gameplay (faster, more moves, better specials system, etc.).
Sure, the music's worse and the characters are cheesy, but the game is better overall. There's a reason why SoR3's gameplay is used in the SoR remake. SoR2's gameplay is just too sluggish and feels outdated.

This is actually my favorite SOR song!

Hmm...between my favorite of each series SOR3 vs. GA2, SOR3 has the edge.

    SOR3>GA2>SOR2>GA3>GA1>SOR1

I never really had fun with the Golden Axe games, but I never played the arcade game, and I didn't play the Genesis ones until after I had played the SOR games.
