Maybe it's the graphics of the first one that turns me off. I remember being really disappointed by it being the Genesis' answer to Final Fight. Everyone was so small.
Well, anyhoo...I think we can all agree that SOR 2 is awesome. Bare Knuckle III is very good too, but I think some people have just played SOR3, which kind of messes it up a little bit.

Well, at the time SOR was very good after all: small sprites but the playability was so much better than Final Fight! And the cooperative moves were great! Not to mention the music..

Shadow of the Beast, the game was regarded as a masterpiece amongst Amiga fans for it's 16 layer parallax scrolling and high-quality sampled music, shame the gameplay is beyond awful.
Looks decent enough, but you play as what? Indiana Jones? I've always enjoyed looking at the multiple scrolling background layers. That's one thing they've got right throughout this series. That and the music which sets the mood very well.
OH! here's a good one, I just found out about a week ago.
It's called Midnight Resistance, a Contra wanna be that does a decent job on it and has pretty good music.

Comic Zone
vector Man
Tom jam and earl
Golden axe series
Altered beast
All those games fucking suck. Time has not been their friend.
No, I disagree, Taz-Mania on Genesis is shockingly bad, its the sort of game which you play and wonder just how it ever managed to get the green light
Levels have next to no interesting elements, or variety, they are filled with randomly placed pointless objects to get in your way and slow you down (not kill you), there are leaps of faith just about everywhere where you'll stand on a ledge and have no idea where you're supposed to go, you jump, see a platform as you're falling and then have to go back around to try again (this time trying to remember approximately where you need to jump), the main gameplay element of spinning inherently doesn't work with level design using constant pitfalls, and the sound can only be described as a cacophony of random, iritating noises, the character is big but the animation is awful, gameplay feels forced and is constantly stopping and starting etc
Realistically I think Awesome Possum is more fun to play than Taz-Mania, and thats one of the worst platformers on Mega Drive.
Another game to bring up is Bubsy, god I hate Bubsy, I wish someone would wipe that smirk off his face![]()
Suck? Slow down buddy. Even I'm not THAT dense.
Comix Zone and Vectorman have aged very well. The other three less so, but are still decent titles.
TJ&E is actually still one of my favourite Mega Drive games.
And yes, Taz-Mania is fucking horrible. It's down there with the likes of Awesome Possum and Bubsy. If it weren't for the better than average graphics, nobody would be defending that game.
Taz-Mania is certainly brought up a lot in this thread. I never even heard of it. I remember the cartoon.
