SCD is a good game but it is also overrated.

Horrible level design - much of it looks fragmented - and horrible hit detection on the UFOs in the special stage take it down a notch for me. Also, the fact that it only takes 3 hits on Robotnik in this one.

One thing I've noticed about Sonic CD is that some people didn't know that is was supposed to be released before Sonic 2.

This artwork within the game hints at that:

Who actually made Sonic CD? I know it wasn't the Sonic Team.

Was developed by Naoto Ohshima, the creator of Sonic.

Sonic CD to me is graphically less impressive then Sonic 2. When I play Sonic CD I always feel Sonic's sprite doesn't match the scenery very well.

To answer the OP, Taz-Mania and Golden Axe 1 are the only games i can think of off the top of my head that I used to love when they came out, and now have trouble understanding why. For the most part, I still enjoy most of the games that I loved back then.

Now, the 32-bit era probably has many more games that I would include in this thread.

I was sorta just looking at games that gamers thought, and STILL list as favorites. Whereas critics who review them for VC, or new gamers, or just gamers who can see through the nostalgia, think are mediocre or substandard.

Now the 32 bit era... Even the great games, need a facelift, or control overhauls. And so many of the rest of them just don't age well in any way. Too bad we didn't get more traditional games in that era. When we did, like Symphony Of The Night, Alundra, Little Ralph, Suikoden...the results are pretty timeless.

Opinions blinded by nostalgia? To me many of my opinions are based off of nostalgia. If a game makes me feel young again because I enjoyed it at a younger age, then I will give it props.
