I only buy loose Hucards.
I only buy loose Hucards.
I don't know what the going rate is, but I sold my US copy a couple of months ago for $8 (case, manual, hucard, hucard sleeve). PCFX forum is probably one of the better places to pickup TG16 and PCE hucards at better prices. Ebay is all over the place, but mostly just high prices.
The home version doesn't support 2 players, but the arcade did. Strange though, since the arcade hardware it's based on is actually just a modified PC-Engine (I think it's the only PC-Engine arcade hardware, game). But yeah, 1 player. You choose one of two characters and get a different ending for each one. There are some fun cheat codes for it too (super speed, flying mode, etc).
Also, since prices on TG16 games get kind of up there for CIB - many people just collect hucards. Even if you have just the hucard itself, it's still cool/unique looking. Some people use trading card collection holders (in binders) to store their hucards.
Well that doesn't sound too bad. I'll keep an eye out for it.
Okay, that's almost of a deal breaker for me. What kind of arcade game port doesn't support two players?!? ... Okay a lot of them, but I really hate seeing that. Probably won't be as fun playing by myself...The home version doesn't support 2 players, but the arcade did. Here I was thinking a card only collection would just turn out to be silly. So card only is a good way to go? That ought to cut some of the costs out for sure. Also, since prices on TG16 games get kind of up there for CIB - many people just collect hucards. Sure, why not? Here's a link to a binder method I was talking about: http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/ind...9616#msg179616
There are people that go one step further and make their own cases (because they want the games on the shelf individually?): http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/ind...?topic=10035.0
I thought I remember someone making repro labels for damaged labels of hucard bottom half cases (the top half is just a CD lid). But I don't remember anyone specifically making the lower half case itself.
http://www.videogameden.com/index.htm has been collecting manual scans. Perfect for print out case/lid covers.
Bleh, the Turbografx I got was DOA. Tried lots of stuff to fix it, but nothing worked. I even desoldered/resoldered the cart slot, nada. The search continues![]()

Also, did you check around for corroded traces? That can certainly cause failure in all sorts of areas.
I just has a white screen, like it has a dirty hucard slot. It was nasty, but I spent hours cleaning it. I also reflowed the solder, and nothing. I couldn't find anything wrong with the rest of the system, other than a flaky RF modulator (that I removed.) I suspect that someone has been in this system before to fix the RF unit, as it had some messy soldering. I wonder if they messed up a trace or something somewhere.

Adding to element's post, if you're having trouble cleaning the slot GohanX, try wetting a card with isopropyl alcohol, then inserting it into the console multiple times. Wipe the card off, wet it then rinse & repeat.
I wish I had a TG16, but they are so expensive.![]()
The systems have come down a bit recently. PCE systems aren't as cheap as they once were, but that is likely because of the JPY rise in value.
Well I'd wager a guess it's hard to import stuff to Mexico (or at least, Turbo Engine stuff is rare locally). A plain old PC-Engine is the better way to go. TG16s are too expensive. However, I'm stuck with a TG16, so I make do with it.
I did continuity checks, and it was fine. Not throwing it out though, parts are always needed!
