I really liked Gamecube at the time. Around 2003 it was my favorite of the three current consoles. But then later on it got its life sucked out of it. Very few worthwhile games came out for it in 2005, and even fewer after that. I'm not sure what exactly caused that; it wasn't preceded by a big sales decline or anything.
I was really sad when they canceled Unity.![]()
You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.
I never really had a problem playing SC2 on the Gamecube Controller. It's no worse than playing Fighters on the 360 controller. In fact I'd say the 360 controller is worse.
The Wii controls are done extremely well in Resident Evil 4. I'd much rather play it that way than with any other controller.
Soul Calibur is a different kind of fighting game; Power Stone would probably be just fine on the GC controller too. I was quite deterred from the system by the awful looking pad too, but it works much better than it looks. Capcom vs SNK EO, however, is out of the question.
The memory card does suck though, many games occupy the whole thing. One has to buy the 'mega' kind of memory card, it's part of the system's hidden cost: $25 for the system, another $25 for the memory cards. But any game worth playing makes that irrelevant.
Quoted for Truth. I loved the game on the Wii, it's was a lot more immersive too in my opinion. But, I also enjoy House of the Dead: Overkill a whole bunch on my Wii too.
My experience with the Gamecube was pretty muted. I had one for the majority of it's lifespan, but the games I had for it were pretty short. All the Zelda games, Crystal Chronicles, and a handful of others. They games that I played, I enjoyed, but there really didn't seem like anything was too innovative about it. I mainly used it for the Gameboy player like other folks mentioned. That was the best investment for the system ever. Hopefully the Wii U will have compatibility for DS games.
Lunch-box handle sealed the deal for me.
For me, "Tales of Symphonia" was a great reason to get a Gamecube, but it's the only game I really enjoyed on that console. I've yet to get a Gameboy Player, but I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun when I do get it.![]()
I know that and that’s probably why most people can’t get over the fact that the Paper Mario series is an entirely different franchise.
Yeah OK, good for you. I like Croc better than Metal Gear Solid, that doesn’t make Croc the better game though.

Forgot Star Soldier, a 3D shooter belonging to the Soldier Blade series; Jp exclusive.
Tales of Symphonia is also on PS2.
Paper Mario is so much better than Super Mario RPG; I find it hard to believe that anyone who prefers the latter to the former has played either game in quite some time. SMRPG is one of the most over-rated titles on the SNES. There's almost nothing interesting about the story or gameplay and it's like they just dropped a few Mario characters into a generic fantasy world. Not a terrible game but on a system that saw some of the best RPGs ever, it's a decent effort at best. I'd say the soundtrack is really the only notable aspect of the game.
Paper Mario is infinitely more charming and fun than SMRPG. Just my opinion, of course.
I eagerly await this. Gonna pick one up, hack it, and turn it into an emulator box.
Not that I'm ever gonna part with my classic consoles, but, seeing as I don't collect Nintendo stuff and I get that hankering to play Super Mario World every once in a while, it'll be nice to have.
