Online or Offline, I can only stand to go on the same quests so many times. This game has next to no real replay value, outside of collecting/creating one of every item in the game. The "Holy fuck, that monster is HUGE!!!" wears off damn fast too.

Never played the game, so I can't really comment on it. The only online game I ever played was "Maple Story", and that was about 6 years ago. It started out fun, and I must have spent 12 hours a day at it. But after nearly a month of playing, I stopped playing entirely for two reasons:
1. It got to the point where it took nearly 3 days to gain a level.
2. I began to get pain in my upper back, now I can't play computer games for any more than 15 minutes without feeling this pain.
Monster Hunter sucks dick. Its the poor mans phantasy star online.
PSO/U is the same way. Its way more a game about getting items than level grinding. They've got similar styles of play and normally appeal to the same person. i just think the PSO/U world has so much more to offer. Phantasy Star Portable Infinity is amazingly awesome and totally has a huge community thats not dead.
Any game that relies solely on endless repetition gets really boring really quickly.
I'd take PSO over the snorefest that is Monster Hunter any day. Wanna know the definition of something not fun? Play Monster Hunter on the Wii. You can only chat through the POS WiiSpeak, and you can only add someone to your friends list when they're online! When you finally get all that done, all you do is kill the same monsters over and over like PSO but without any charm to it. Capturing them instead of killing them is cool, but that's about it. At least PSO has that whole universe going for it.
PSO universe > anything MH.
There's something about both these series. But also not enough to keep my interest past their drawbacks.
PSO/U drew me in due to loving the classic games. The cheap bosses and steep grind eventually led me to abandon every one of the modern titles.
Monster Hunter had a very nice setting. You could almost feel free as Bear Grylls eating a sloth testicle in Uganda. Again, steep grind and cheap bosses.. I'm starting to see a pattern here..
Yeah, but there's no urine drinking mini-game in Monster Hunter.
