Now I feel kind of shitty I didn't intend him to get perma-banned, or even temp banned over here. My beef was only with what his trash talking of PCFX (and the bragging about it) and or lying about members there. I did read most of his threads here and didn't find them specifically offensive or anything. Yeah, some of it was drivel and yeah he needed to slow down on the thread creation.

Don't! He's the one who broke the rules.

You just happened to be involved.

This thread really does bring out the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

I didn't like what someone was saying about a forum I like and found out I was involved in why they were annoyed. I rectified things and that person now feels differently.

I just wouldn't want to face DotS in a Martial Arts exhibition anytime soon because he still seems to be in rage mode. You really can't let the net get to you

Well, I guess this means that Sega-16 will be added to the list of forums that DotS will say is full of "aryan-hating, ginger faggots", once he finds a new home.

    Just let him go.
He created several accounts and countless threads. F***ed all accounts and many of those threads...
You didn't judge him or added fuel to his explosive angry, the guy was just ready to explode, sooner or later.
After the perma-ban he said "**** YOU ALL" and something like "I can't live among fagot nerds"...

He had a very dark side in his soul, I feel relieved knowing that he went away.

He left us with an awesome thread called "living with rib pain" to remember him by.

I'll take him on. The easiest wins while I was a competitor were against people who lost their cool in the heat of the moment. It would be almost too easy.

I've been a happy Atariage member for over 2 years now and I've seen some of these complaints before, but the thing about Chickbaby is just weird (and I agree that she did seem like one of the better mods on the site). It's especially odd that she'd be banned rather than stripped of MOD privileges, unless AA is one of those forums with separate accounts for moderators in addition to normal user accounts. (I didn't think that was the case though)
It's a real shame about Chicky. She was perhaps more approachable than most of the other mods on the forum. Most of the regulars even got to know her by her real name.

There is far more to it than just abusing her mod privileges in that manner. To piss Albert off as much as she obviously has done (the question has been raised on AA but Albert refuses to talk about it) it's more than her just getting too big for her boots, which I personally didn't see although she did seem to get involved in warning members when she thought they were stepping out of line more than other mods.

Even Albert has a generally softly-softly approach to maintaining the integrity of the forum rules. I typically get a warning off him once every couple of years now. Some of it, though, can be a little unfair but that's often down to the differences in interpretation between the US and other parts of the world. AA has a pretty vibrant off-topic section of the forum that can blow up into a maelstrom of hate. Several members have left, or been banned, over the years because of the polarised views expressed on this part of the forum. The differences between Europe and the US are shown markedly whenever there's been a mass shooting. Any talk of that on AA is very carefully monitored by the mods because it's considered by most US members to be a political issue - and discussions on politics/religion are banned on AA. To Europeans, it's seen as a humanitarian or legal issue.

There are several US members on AA who quite clearly can't stand each other primarily due to their polarised political viewpoints. But they will work together for the greater good of the hobby and give each other a heads up if they see something that the other person might be interested in. It's often an uneasy peace but in recent months there's been very little, if any, serious disagreements like those we've seen in the past.

Some of the claims I've seen on here regarding Atari Age has been the exact opposite of what I've seen in 8 years on the forum. There is no dislike of the NES - quite the opposite in fact. From what I've seen, there is a big appreciation of the NES (not from me, I hasten to add - not a big fan of either the NES or the Master System ... I've never forgiven them for introducing the world to teeny weeny joypads!!! AAAAARRRGH!!!). And far from blaming Nintendo and the NES for the demise of Atari and the 7800, the vast majority of members, particularly the more knowledgeable ones (of which there are many) blame Atari and the Tramiels for a) turning down the chance to market the NES and b) releasing the 7800 two years late. That, as it turned out, was what ultimately killed Atari and allowed Nintendo and SEGA to get a serious foothold in the North American and European gaming markets, leaving Atari to catch up when they had a machine that could potentially have killed off both machines at birth had they got in there first.

Racketboy is one of my favorites though I have a hard time keeping up with forums these days.

    I generally post on three:

Sega-16: New member, can't say much for now.

Retrogamer.net: I like the Brits. They're very knowledgeable about a variety of games and consoles and they have a different perspective on what North Americans consider "B" level consoles.

Hardcoregaming 101: They bitch a lot more than I like but with their knowledge at least they've earned that right somewhat.

    As far as gaming sites.

Sega-16 - Solid place mostly, occasionally some snobby attitudes and childish discussion.

Cheapassgamer - Pretty lame community, people are rarely helpful, are assholes, and often derail threads.

Gamespot - Haven't been there in years, hate it. Dreadful crowd that place attracts for the most part.

RFGeneration - Seems like another solid place.
