No, I'm a real cheap ass. No space for the boxed games either so I keep mostly loose games in a drawer for cassette tapes. Many real cheapasses do this, and so can you. Also when your girlfriend comes over, it doesn't look like you have a problem. It's like keeping your cocaine in an empty Bic pen.

As for your collection, I think it's probably better than mine.

If you're mainly playing on the Nomad, you should get one of the Road Rash games. They look surprisingly good on the Nomad LCD. Playing most shooters on that screen will mostly be an exercise in frustration, but from what I remember, Space Harrier II looked pretty good on it. Most scaling games of that kind will be flattered by the Nomad's laggy display.

I know you said you had a grudge against RPGs on the MD, but you might consider getting Light Crusader and Landstalker. Both are isometric action RPGs with strong puzzle elements (especially Light Crusader), and both are among the most engrossing games I've played on the system. My personal favorite is Light Crusader, in part because the music is fantastic -- and I think it'll also be cheaper, since it's somewhat unpopular -- but either one is a good choice.

BTW Ariel: The Little Mermaid and Fantasia are both worth playing through and beating. Ariel:TLM is super-easy as long as you (a) read the manual and (b) play through all three difficulty levels in order, since the level exits are no longer on the map in Hard mode. It's a flawed game, but it's mostly not frustrating and has a chilled-out vibe I found surprisingly pleasant. It's a good game to fire up if you're in the mood to beat an easy game.

Fantasia is kind of a trainwreck, but if you're pretty good at platformers you should be able to navigate it, and it's an interesting experience (if at times intensely frustrating). It's a little bit like a damaged version of Castle of Illusion: you can tell the designers had some good ideas, but it was rushed out the door several months too soon. Personally I'm not the biggest COI fan -- I think it's overrated and much prefer World of Illusion -- and to me, a lot of the problems with Fantasia are just amplified versions of the things I don't like about COI: cheap hits from offscreen enemies, slow-moving main character, and so forth.

P.S. Here's my collection, though it doesn't include a bunch of sports games I bought for their cases and am planning to get rid of.

You don't have Sonic 3 or Sonic And Knuckles. Those shouldn't be too expensive. Being "cheap", you are missing some really good games.
I don't think Dynamite Headdy is very expensive. Nor is Streets Of Rage 2, and you should REALLY own SOR 2, at the least. Ghouls N' Ghosts too. And no Ristar??

Expensive games you are missing: Lightening Force, Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier, and Monster World IV. You could always get repros of the latter two, since MW IV is in Japanese, and Alien Soldier is an import.

Just to name a few not mentioned yet, other members have also given good choices.

1, 2, and 4 are not remotely in the cash class of 3; they're about $30, Alien Soldier is 1 or 2 hundred. PAL effects on cost I don't know, but British sellers always seem to have cheap wares till the damned royal air service steps in. Similarly if you can go the Japanese route via non TMSS or Game Genie Thunder Force 3 won't cost much, particularly lacking the manual.
Arcus Odyssey, Sol Deace, Hellfire, Chameleon Kid, Shinobi III, Shining Force (strategy, not dungeon crawler), Chakan, Battle Golf (Jp only), Home Alone, Alien Storm...
These are a variety of games, only the first 3 of which will test your cheapness. Excuse any repetitions of games you already own, but after skimming your list I skimmed goldenband's and several of the other enormities under that thread. Anyhow you should probably ignore my recommendations because my favourite game is Phantasy Star II. I'm not really interested in rating your collection---suffice it to say you have Worms and Taz Mania.

Try out Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (or Puyo Puyo if you want the original Jp cast) for a change of pace. Ristar is gorgeous on the right TV. Rocket Knight Adventures can be fun too.

Well, I'm very happy to say I'm proud eBay winner and not yet owner of Sunset Riders been looking for a non-ridiculous costing version (sub £10) for ages, although it's cart only, and I'll try and find a repro sleeve for it.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. To feed back a little, Starmist, there's some good ideas there, particularly Kid Chameleon. I have Shinobi III though.

Goldenband, I'm kind of the opposite: I love Castle of Illusion, And I can't stand World of Illusion. I think I have played and disliked Fantasia before, but I'll give it a shot (after Mickey Mania which looks a bit better). Good call on Road Rash (I believe II is the better one?) And Light Crusader (I LOVE puzzle RPGs - Golden Sun and Zelda are Real favorites of mine)

So thanks guys, this has been really helpful

    maaaan...fantasia is pure WASTE!!!!?!?!?!

most definitely a 'broken' game....the controls just totally suck hairy ass - just forget it!!!

mickey mania, on the other hand, is awesome!

especially on the mega cd - the music's great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as someone else mentioned - lion king / earthworm jim 1 & 2 are worthwhile pick ups if u can grab em cheap enough - should be able to cart only though no doubt

    pzzz

Good choice -- I was going to mention that one, but figured it'd be too expensive. Very fun game, especially with two players.

Mickey Mania probably deserves your attention before Fantasia (though actually I haven't played MM very much). Road Rash II would be my pick. I hope you like Light Crusader -- it gets very mixed reviews, but those who like the game seem to really enjoy it.

I'd never suggest that he buy it, but he already owns it! Given that, I still think it's worth playing through, if you have a high tolerance for crap games (as do I). I didn't have too much trouble getting used to the controls, actually -- it's the buggy, broken level design which drove me a little nuts.

Forgot about Burning Force. Looks and sounds surprisingly good for an earlier game. Those who haven't experience it in stereo 60hz RGB level quality on a CRT, should.
