Because they're less bright. That's why looking at plasma TVs in stores sucks; there's too much light, making them appear dark.
In your home however, it looks great.

Not only that; it's good practice to keep it on 50% brightness in the first 6 months to wear it in. I'd be fairly sure that the models in the store which are on constantly are on a reduced brightness. Mine is on 50% and I'd totally forgotten about it, but it's fine. I quite like it less bright for some reason, but I'll try cranking it up.

One thing I will say though, because of the glass, it shows up refelections really badly. Mine is opposite a window, and on a bright day, you have to draw the curtains to watch TV.

As long as you have a valid reason, I'm not fussed, but that other guy was all kinds of misinformation.

My Plasma handles Genesis Composite fairly well. You be the judge. (I know, I'm not the best at taking pics of a Plasma screen )

Compare to Sonic's UGC via 360 HDMI connected.

I've also never experienced Burn-In. Only slight Image Retention which goes away in a matter of seconds.

I have. Playing a few hours of Marvel Vs Capcom 2 left the super bars burned in. Freaked me out, but they disappeared soon enough.

*edit* maybe that's retention instead of burn-in

That is the very definition of retention. Burn in is retention that doesnt go away :

This is also why people should not play there 4:3 in 4:3 like the above user. Just play in 16:9 mode and you have no chance of bars on the side of your tv.

What? Playing your retro console of 4:3 in 16:9 stretched mode? Now you've crossed the line. Also, if you don't mind.. post your age. I have a feeling you're pretty young. That would explain quite a few things.

One button on my tv remote switches retro games from 4;3 to 16;9,

I think 16 9 looks better for some reason

    25. And yes I care more about my tv's health than some stretched sprites.

Its just a old pratice. Plasma can get burn in. If you're creating bars on your tv by viewing something in 4:3 you're adding higher chances of it. Obviously on a newer age plasma there isnt any need to but, its habit.

Anyways lets move all this tv talk and emulation things to a more relivant topic now. This has absolutely nothing to do with fatal fury since like page 5.

Best thing is having an old TV for retro consoles and a new one for HD or VGA (like Dreamcast) systems IMO.

And I prefer the Mega Drive version because it's more accurate to the Neo-Geo version and despite the fact of lacking two characters. I couldn't less for Hwa Jai (who is still present in Duck King's background) but Billy Kane at least SHOULD NOT have been cut out.

This post doesn't make any sense. Why would you possibly care about your TV's health? You've gone on record stating you buy a new TV every couple of years. By the time your Plasma has burn-in, you'll already have a new one. Hypocritical, much?

I'm with Tomaitheous. Physical age has no direct relation to mental age. In the brain, I'd wager a guess you're 12 and a half.
