Default PAL Mega-CD II Audio issues - Have a listen!

    Hey Guys,
I got myself a Mega-CD II in a lot of broken and working consoles.
The Console itself seems to be working OK except for the audio is really playing up.
This seems to be causing issues with games also. I have a few backups of different games which run fine in emulators but on the Mega-CD the sound is sometimes out of sync and really distorted.
One last thing is that I cannot format the internal memory for Sonic. I have replaced the battery and still have the same problems.
Any ideas about what this could be and a possible fix?

Have a listen to the title BIO screen on the unit

From what I have seen it should sound like this.

I believe that the Ricoh RF5C164 sound chip is the problem.

Now does anyone have a dead Segacd that they can rip this chip out of?
What other devices actually used this chip?

    Replace audio circuit caps.

Be true to yourself. GFX doesn't matter, the game does. If you are intrested to donate one NTSC Genesis for hardware testing purposes, please pm me.

I was thinking to do that first and see what the result is.
From my experience though blown caps only cause no audio to come out. Will change them and see how I go.
can anyone tell me which CAPs are the actual audio caps? There are a few on the board.
