God of War 480p60 (with the smoothing filter off) is much more impressive looking than that GT4 in 1080i.
God of War has it all. 480p, proper widescreen, Dolby PLII, but SegaAMD won't be pleased to know its still running at 512x448.

Actually in terms of late 6th gen games, its probably the best there is or in the top 5.

This cant be overstated enough. I think whoever won the fith generation console war would have won the 6th almost automatically.

I know these things, the ps2 doesn't make 4'80 'it makes 4'48' that explains that little piece that is missing every time we compare screenshots since day one, but it's not just the PS2 that works with this resolution (512 or 640) x 448; see here some gamecube resolutions but yes most gamecube games are 640x480.

    Sonic Adventure 2 640x480(yeah) output 480p
    Star wars RS2: 640x450, 640x304 output 480p
    Star wars RS3: 512x450, 512x304 output 480p
    Metroid Prime2 640x448 output 480p
    Resident Evil Remake: 640x448 512x448 output 480i
    RE4: 640x448 512x448 ''LetterBoxed'' for visible area 640x278 512x278 output 480p
Metal Gear Twin snake 512x448 output 480p
    Dragon Ball Budokai 2 512x240 output 480i

Games with 16:9 and 480p at the same time: GCN: 55 games PS2: 125 games
Exclusive games 16:9 and 480p at the same time: GCN: 8 games PS2 over 16 games

Considering that the GameCube only has about 640 games, compared to the PS2’s 2000 something, it’s a higher percentage of games supporting higher res on the GC. It’s a lot harder to find a PS2 game that supports progressive scan, let alone a true 480i. I think that of the 80 or so PS2 games I own, may 20 of them have progressive scan. My GC collection is only about at around 40 titles and probably close to half of those games support 480p.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

You're an outsider like me, best get used to the abuse. Unless you love the Genesis, with all your heart you won't get a look in. I don't agree with you on the PS2 but respect the commitment to the platform and company

I don't particularly like Genesis I always preferred the super nes but I think you should agree with me, it is silly to deny that the mini dvd and the memory limited the console. this for example explains the smaller number of games at 480 and widescreen simultaneously. Ok I respect you, it is necessary to be scientific and let passions pass when talking about hardware because in the last analysis it is an objective and not a subjective situation ..

Why? It didn't happen in any other generation. Was something incredibly special about the early 2000s?

Who knows. There’s a guy with the entire North America collection, that is around 2000 games. Japan probably has a shit ton of collections (SEGA Ages and such) that fluff up the numbers and who knows what titles where Europe only?

Xbox 360s flew off of shelves during its 1st year, as Halo (Xbox Live) fans from the original console flocked to get one. They were looking forward to Halo 3 and even got backwards compatibility with Halo 2 on the console. That’s 8 million HALO 2 fans moving up to MS’s next console.

Its about momentum. The Dreamcast had absolutely no momentum going for it. The GameCube had maybe a little bit. The PS2 had momentum, filled to the brim, to the point where 6 spare cups had to be used. After all the PS1 was the most successful console by a long shot, selling almost double the NES. Then Sony was hit with the 3rd console curse with PS3.

The SNES also had momentum going for it, to the point where it was able to beat the Genesis which was very tough competition.

If console "momentum" was really a thing we'd still be playing Atari consoles today and the Wii U would have been a best seller.
