Sad requiem for street fighter 3.

We all know and love street fighter, a classic for sure.. but when everybody thinks of street fighter it seems that nobody and I mean NOBODY reminds street fighter 3, it was a MONSTER of game in my opinion and yeah you can say that it has his flaws (weird and creppy characters) but in my opinion its sad nobody remembers this great game... what do you think about sf3?
too old for video games huh?

Hey, you've made a cry for my second favorite in the series (the first being Alpha 2)!
I really love Street Fighter 3. It was a call back to simple, elegant sanity after the anime-fireball crazy shitstorm of the VS games.

I missed the first 2 games in the series so 3rd Strike was my introduction. I had a lot of fun with that game and dont have many complaints about it. I had it for the Dreamcast and PS2. I did notice that there was a small gap between the release dates of 3/Double Impact and 3rd Strike on Dreamcast. Basically I skipped 3/Double Impact because I knew 3rd Strike was coming out sooner so I just waited for that one. Didnt play any of these games in the arcades as I was done with arcades at that point plus I dont even think my local mall had any of those games there.

SF3 is a weird one for me, I just wasn't in a gaming state at the time of its release, and when i finally got around to playing it.. it just didn't impress me,
animation is top notch and so is the sound, but I just don't dig the drum and bass music style, it just distracts me from the rest of the game.

as to where with SF2 and the Alpha's the music drew me in, but SF3.. its extremely distracting for my brain somehow.

Street Fighter II redefined a genre. Street Fighter III was just a sequel. I think that is the difference and the biggest reason nobody thinks of it as well as SFIII. Plus II came out for both SNES and Genesis back in their heyday.

Its soundtrack is one of the unique aspects of the game, there's nothing else like it in the 2d fighting genre.

SF3 is not a game I "mark out" over, but in almost every aspect, I totally agree with those who say from a technical standpoint it is the best 2d fighter ever. There are several fighting games I personally like better (Alpha 3, KOF 98, KOF XI, Real Bout Fatal Fury) but as far as pure 2d fighting craftsmanship goes, SF3 is almost second to none.

Among the hardcore fighting fans, SF3 Third Strike is considered the technical peak of the 2d fighting genre, with Mark of the Wolves running both a close and distant second. It is very well regarded among tournament players.

Street Fighter III: Third Strike is still my favorite fighter ever. The gameplay and music are top-notch, even if the characters aren't the most original out of the series. Still WAY better than Street Fighter IV or 2 can ever be.
