Well, at any rate, the seller for that second item is also selling a Saturn RGB cable that's supposed to work on an NTSC console and display through Euro SCART inputs and it has RCA audio split out from the cable. Needless to say, I snatched one up immediately and am stoked as shit (assuming it works as advertised). I thought I was going to need like 3 separate components from various sellers to get my Saturn running in RGB with sound, so I was putting it off.

Ok, I'll ask this here rather than start a whole new thread.

I just got a boxed Power Base Converter for $35. I have my 32X connected to my pre-TMSS model 1 Genesis, and it's connected via composite (I'm using the composite cable that works with the model 2 Genesis). My model 2 is connected via s-video. Now, I plan to use the PBC on the model 1 and the 32X on the model 2. I have to get the model 1's composite cable, which is simple enough to find on eBay, but the problem is the model 2. I notice that if I connect the 32X to it, it runs the Genesis game's just fine. My question is, is there any way to play my 32X in s-video short of a mod? Is there a way to use my Genesis' s-video mod connection to work with the 32X? I REALLY don't want to have to downgrade it to composite, and it would be a pain to have to switch between the PBC and the 32X every time I want to play some Master System.

You can either go the external SCART RGB to Component route like those of us in here or you can look for an XMD-3. This is a Japanese device which plugs into a Model 2 Mega Drive and also a 32X. It converts RGB into S-video without having to mod your system. If you want to play in s-video today/right this second, you're out of luck with the 32X. The Power Base Converter will run in s-video if your Genesis is modded for s-video, obviously. There is no way to use the PBC without first removing the 32X because of the way the 32X is manufactured internally. Basically games are forbidden from engaging the the SMS mode because the 32X thinks it is the boss of all games. You could probably mod a 32X to allow for SMS games to pass through, but then you would have a non-working 32X, so I think it might not be worth it. Anyway, I have gotten used to removing the 32X when I want to Convert my Genesis into a Power Base... and a powerful base it is!

32X can be S-video modded, but its not quite perfected yet (or at least it was not last time I saw people doing it). I need to see how S-vid looks like form my 32X

When I modded my 32X for S-Video, it looked pretty shitty. The video signal looks like blurry Composite with no smearing or rainbow artifacts. I personally think, in its current state, the S-Video mod for the 32X makes the 32X's S-Video look worse than Composite. To top it off, if I use both Composite and S-Video at the same time on my 32X, the Composite becomes almost impossible to see and loses color. I need two different outputs for video capture purposes, so in its current state, the 32X S-Video mod is mediocre at best.

BTW got everything in but my SCART switch. I now have SCART SNES and Genesis cables, it looks amazing on my 27 inch CRT with component cables, biggest thing I noticed was the richness in colors. I can't recommend this enough if your someone who is fence sitting.

Be careful about those SCART switches. Turning one system on can cause others to turn on as well, even if you disconnect them from power.
