***Visualshock! Speedshock! Soundshock! Now is time to the 68000 heart on fire!***
Sweet dreams.
You know, for a while I'd been thinking about how I liked the puzzle elements in some survival horror games . . . and how some were particularly were graphic-adventure-like (the Silent Hill games are like that at times, among others), and while there had been some purer point and click style horror adventure games in the past, there hadn't been any of that genre that really matched the caliber of atmosphere/story/creepiness/overall gameplay the better Silent Hill games (or a couple others that were more action based with some puzzle elements -liek System Shock, Bioshock, Siren, etc). Generally a game somewhat like those horror games with a much greater emphasis on the adventure/puzzle aspects rather than any combat and possibly a first person game. (like the Myst, the 90s Zork games, etc)
And then I find out about Amnesia . . . and it fits pretty much exactly to what I had in mind, except it goes beyond my expectations of any game in that genre/sub-genre by being even more atmospheric/creepy than even the best Silent Hill games and with a story to match. (not to mention overall sound/graphics design . . . and the actual gameplay/puzzles)
