    Default Collecting Peeves

I'm sure just about all of us collect games in one form or another, but what are your peeves, other than condition? (being complete, loose, price)

I found that if I collect for a small system, like the 32X for example, I NEED to have an even number of games. I'm getting into Saturn imports, and I made sure that I'll end up with an even number of games..
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

I'm not obsessive-compulsive enough to care if I have an even or odd number of games. But I always prefer my games to be complete (except for NES, SNES, and N64 games since finding those complete isn't worth the time, price and effort and often the outer boxes are thrashed beyond all hell). Speaking of which I hate games that come in a cardboard box. I always make sure all of my Genesis and 32X games have a spiffy clamshell case complete with a cover that looks as if it were official. I keep the old paper boxes, though. When I get SNES or Super Famicom games complete, I stash the paper boxes away as well (but don't make new boxes). Paper boxes are for retards and I am ashamed of them. I also stash the TurboGrafx-16 paper boxes away.

I usually don't OCD over silly things, but I have a question.

Do you care about spine cards for imports? I don't get obessesed over that... What is the purpose really?

If the game has the spine card, that's cool. I just put it into the instructions so it stays flat and in good condition. If the game doesn't come with a spine card, then that's cool, too. I really don't care. I wish people cared about it a little more, that would make non-spine card versions of games much cheaper.

It pisses me of when I get a game with the label completely destroyed. Like Kid Icarus and Ducktales. I cant tell which game is which when I look at them till I marked them as such.

How do the game lables get so torn up in the first place........

Sometimes it's just cheaply glued stickers and they just kinda fall off. Or it snags something and rips. Or a little kid with idle hands.

Being as though I do most of my buying from ebay...
I hate people who don't say whether or not the manual is included in a game.
I hate people who claim games like Rugby 95 are ULTRA RARE!!!
I hate buying games an the case doesn't close properly.
I hate the fact I don't own Shinobi 3 or any of the Phanstay Stars.
I hate the fact some git always outbids me by 5p.
I hate people who charge excessive amounts on P&P.
Actually, I think I just hate ebay.

Shinobi 3 isn't rare... in the states anyway. Is it uncommon or rare in England? Damn fine game.

Yeah, there's a lot about eBay that bothers me too. More than anything else, though, it's the sellers who charge outrageous handling fees on the games they sell, which I see is an object of hatred for you as well. That, and the frequent use of stock photos in auction descriptions. eBay has created a slew of new collecting peeves..

In terms of the genuine "hunt," though, the non-working cart has to be the overall worst. It looks mint, the connectors pass the visual inspection, but no matter what you try, black screen black screen black screen. Or in the case of the NES, a colour randomly selected from a filthied rainbow.

I've had that happen twice... but the games where common ones. Adventures of Batman and Robin and Ex-Mutants.

It's not very rare just overpriced. I do not want to pay more than £10 for it.

I've never had that, although I seldom test the games and instead just throw them on the pile.
