Damn NeoZeedEater you were one hardcore ass gamer back in the day. I have played a lot of the games you listed but not until many years after they had been released. Text based games did rock the house though. I had no idea there was a Hitchhiker's Guide text game, I would have loved to play that as a kid. I read the books and even had a copy of the origional BBC tv series(so much better than the crappy hollywood modern version) when I was young.

I remember staying up late all the time playing this one text adventure game, but I can't remember what it was called. It started out like you wake up in a room possibly at an inn. On the table there is some silver bullets and a key. You pick up the bullets and key and you hear a blood curdling howl in the distance. I would go into school all sleepy the next day after staying up late playing that one.

Heh, in retrospect I'm amazed I played as many games as I did, especially since I spent more time outdoors than in. I was lucky to have a neighbourhood where I had access to copying hundreds of floppy disk games and borrowing many cartridges. And I made it a mission to try and play everything. I always gave a try to any new arcade game I came across.

That horror text adventure sounds familiar.
