Huh. Didn't know Majesco had made Model 2's. I would say that's like the one I had, but I don't have neither the box nor everything else (threw away the box years ago, and the rest last year ), since it did have the "Core System" thingy, although mine came with two 6-button controllers instead of a single 3-button one. Mine also had a Mega Drive 2 AC adaptor instead of a Genesis 2 adaptor.

I do remember seeing Model 2's similar to the one I had on stores a few years ago (which is weird since nowadays you'll mostly see either Genesis 3s or any Genesis-on-a-chip console), and they were pre-1998 (I think it was from around 1993-1994). All I remember is that it had more games shown (and they were screens instead of boxart) and that it mentioned the Sega CD (which, speaking of that, I only saw two of them over here in my entire life: one was owned by my neighbor, and another one was on a VG store near my house) and also had screens of Final Fight CD, Sewer Shark and maybe something else.

Yes, it had its own manual. Here's one being sold on Ebay. It looks very similar to the Genesis 3 manual. Here are some scans of the original 1993 model 2 manual for comparison.

Sounds like a pirate Geniclone. The U.S. model 2 was never packaged with either 6-button controllers or a Mega Drive 2 power supply. Not even Majesco could make that happen.

Sounds like more pirate Geniclones with copied boxes.

Chessage you are the man! Thank you so much. You know if it came with other advertisements or just the manual?

This past summer I picked up a Majesco Model 2 and a very late Model w with a VA4 motherboard. I've seen more Majescos than the VA4 regular Sega model 2.
These are my two holy grail genesis consoles and have replaced my original VA6 Model 1 and VA3 Model1.

I'd say there are no additional inserts for three reasons:

1.) It would've added to the production costs.

2.) The back of the box already advertises the games.

3.) Warranty and contact information are included in the manual.

All three of those reasons make a lot of sense... Well until I find out definitively that the manual was the only insert I'm going to have to assume you are correct. If anybody else is able to shed some light on this matter that would be great. BIG THANKS TO CHESSAGE AND EVERYBODY ELSE THAT HELPED ME BECOME MORE INFORMED!!

QuickSciFi's Majesco Game Gear unboxing video can also help illustrate how Majesco consoles were packaged.

It's kinda weird that they were Geniclones since they did look like the real thing, plus the controllers probably were actual Sega 6-button controllers.

    Still, thanks for the info.

I don't like the cut down placement of the board but for sure it is a very nice and clean layout. Even nicer than my 1993 model 2 with genuine FM, Z80 and Motorola chips.

That's their goal, legitimate-looking things sell. A fake that says 'Sega' will sell better than a console that says 'Senga'.

You also gotta watch out for those Feka goons who're claiming their CD addon was the first on the market!

Why is Phantasy Star II on there? Did Majesco ever re-release it, plan to, or was there a recently discovered giant warehouse full of them?
