At first guess I would have said Outlander on the Genesis, but it's cool that there is an Arcade game like this too!
"... If Sony reduced the price of the Playstation, Sega would have to follow suit in order to stay competitive, .... would then translate into huge losses for the company." p170 Revolutionaries at Sony.

You might want to further define the era past "when I was younger." Was it the 80's 90's? 2000?
Chase HQ 2: Special Criminal Investigation?
To be this good takes AGES, to be this good takes SEGA!
I know a few games that features *sequences* of what you're talking about, but not a game totally revolving around it.
Lucky and Wild is so damn fun, shame it's so hard to find a cabinet that's fully working! Great little game by Namco, wish it got a home port.
Damnit... I remember what game you're talking about. It was at my local arcade too. BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME EITHER! I do remember exactly where it sat in the arcade though.
Be Attitude For Gains!
Roadblasters??...I don't recall it having been 2P co-op though.
OP, how about defining, in addition to what Lastcallhall suggested, what sort of car, its colour, and the manner in which 2P fired, ie out the shotgun window, over the windscreen (for a convertible), or had he some kind of turret?
sorry guys I cant really remember much more , I played it when i was a kid in the 90s in a montreal arcade
I know it was 2 players , 1 guy drove the car and someone else was shoooting
I think we were bothing standing at the machine not sitting and theres was only 1 gun not two
I think i was shooting out the window of the car
as for color of the car it might have been red .
is there a list of all the racing/shoooting co-op arcade games , because this genre of arcade is frickn amazing

Still sounds like S.C.I to me

I'd start with Road Blasters at MAWS and then systematically work my way through the list of recommended games to see if one of them was it. If not, I'd check those game's recommended games.
-edit-
That's stupid, who uses frames anymore anyway?
