Also, never finished Earthbound![]()
I still haven't bothered finishing Super Shinobi II. Other, far less well rated games on the MD have held my attention until I got the clear.
For whatever reason.
I've never played a Zelda game.

I have more SNES games now than Mega Drive games (just barely).
I sometimes use those "everything looks like melted plastic" emulator filters.
At least half the time, when I first boot up an alleged AAA/Top 100/"500 games to play before you die" title, all I can think of is "I don't feel like dealing with this shit."
For some reason, many acclaimed games give me very little thrill of discovery, and I often enjoy figuring out a game's brokenness more than its intended gameplay.
I've never played any Zelda games either (unless you count Links Crossbow Training on the Wii, and that's quite a stretch). I've NEVER been a fan of RPG's, so Zelda just never interested me enough. I don't like games where you wander around trying to figure out what you're supposed to do next (which is what RPG's are all about).
I do appreciate the games though, and I greatly enjoy watching videos of people who know how to play them.
The only RPG I ever played through was Phantasy Star II, and I used the guide book every step of the way. Maybe that's cheating, but PSII is an amazing game, and I'm glad I got to enjoy it. I wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes without the guide however, as there were actions I had to take that I would have never figured out on my own.
Hardly. I never said they sucked or were worthless, I said I've never played them. One has no bearing on the other, since you don't need to play every action RPG to appreciate the genre. Maybe some day I'll play a Zelda game, but right now, I'm not running out to buy something that I don't feel any real urge to play.

There are probably a bunch that I could think of in the 'never played' category but my biggest confession is:
I think the Turbografx-16 / Turbo Duo is a mediocre console.
I find the library bland and many of the better titles were either ported to more accessible consoles (Splatterhouse, Lords of Thunder, etc.) or left in Japan all together(Rondo of Blood, Legend of Xanadu, etc.).
Of course if NEC had been more successful in marketing we'd be exposed to a stronger library but it wasn't so we weren't; For what it was/is today, I can't say it's worth the hundreds that people throw at it looking to grab one...
After owning a SEGA CD and playing most of the "great" titles, I see now that it sucks and can no longer stand the sight of it.
I often question whether retro gaming is a worthwhile endeavor. I probably could have done something more productive with my time.
Well once at school I sneaked into a teachers office to find something but ended up finding a big stack of confiscated porn mags. So I locked the office door, closed the blinds and sat down with the porn magazines and started... Oh shit, gaming confessions? Oh right, yeah, erm, well I've never collected all the chaos emeralds in Sonic 2, I never could do the special stages in that particular Sonic game. I've never played a Phantasy Star game. Oh, and despite being uber loyal to Sega for most of my gaming life during the 32bit generation I got a PS1 instead of a Saturn. I know I made the right choice in hindsight and love the PS1 to bits, don't get me wrong, but I still regret not sticking with Sega even if the Saturn did eventually flop. I made up for it when the Dreamcast was released and I have a Saturn now though so it's all good and my guilt is somewhat eased.
This. I've never spent over $30 on any retro game out of principle, but I've been collecting for about 3 years now and have 151 Genesis games. I don't really regret buying them, as I play and enjoy 95% of what I buy, but it really adds up over time and lately I've stepped back from buying more because I've got everything I want to own (outside of the expensive stuff I'll never own like Crusader of Centy). I would feel guilty paying hundreds of dollars for a cart. But that's, like, my opinion, man.
