MK3 is by far the worst on on the Genesis.
I think the best would be II.

MK2>MK3>UMK3>MK (bottom of the crap barrel for being a shitty bugged piece of crap conversion)

Honestly I would love to try redoing MKII myself, or even a proper MK Trilogy on Genesis,
It's possible, the UMK3 source has been leaked and seems to be complete,
If one thing MK3 showed us that Probe's decision to put the lifebar/misc stuff into the character palette is a good choice,
this leaves a full 31 colors for the background, and still decent fighting sprites.
So who wants to give it a go? program it for Krikkz everdrive so the background music can be streamed via pcm,
and if you program it to load only the necessary chars/bg from the SD card the loaded game would never be bigger then.. 500kb tops.
ur video link is broken dude ^^

Using a different megadrive solved the very same problem I was having too with Mortal Kombat cart, low kicks not being registered, more like trouble with the C button since it occurs on bonus levels too.
Actually my multimega does the same, but not with Mortal Kombat CD (flawless).
Weird.

I enjoy all of them, but I'm partial to the first MK. I have fond memories playing it with my best friend for hours. The blood code and the fatalities really stuck in my mind. When I want to play Mortal Kombat on the genny I grab the first one. On other systems I go for MK II on the SNES.
I just bought MK3 and UMK3 off Ebay and wow, these conversions are amazing on the Genesis with fast, fluid animation and good-sized sprites. These games are really damn hard though.

Babies...the unfortunate by-product of a good time.
I noticed that the Sega Mega Drive ports of MK3 and UMK3 have misplaced tracks, meaning that some of the arcade music tracks play on different levels.
The SNES version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 has seven stages (eight if you count the stage where you fight Robot Smoke; this stage can be accessed with a Game Genie), while the Sega Mega Drive version has eleven stages. The Bank, The Soul Chamber, The Subway, and The Kombat Temple are present in the Sega Mega Drive port; these stages are not in the SNES version. Rain and Noob Saibot have brutalities, stage fatalities, and babalities in the SNES version. Rain and Noob Saibot only have brutalities in the Sega Mega Drive port, although the CPU can still execute stage fatalities when playing as either of these two characters.
