Ah, yeah I like that "click" better than the standard SNES pad. In fact when I played a SFC after the Hori GC pad, I thought the SFC pad was beat to hell.

Not long ago I bought a PS2 to GC adapter off eBay for less than $20 shipped. I've yet to use it though. I mainly want it to have a joystick for Star Soldier, Radirgy, Ikaruga, Shikigami II, and Chaos Field.

The Hori pads I sold went through a forum, each for around $40, which at the time was a really good price for new ones.
6-12 months ago I saw a couple new ones on eBay sell for $80-100 iirc.

    More on topic:
I love the way the GB, GBC, and GBA games look on a CRT.

I just grabbed a 6 dollar GC at Goodwill just for the purpose of enjoying some GBA games on my big screen.

As with all systems, there always seems to be a catch though... GC component cables going for 90 - 140 dollars... well that takes the jelly out of my doughnut. How many banks does a guy have to rob to enjoy optimal A/V quality from his electronics? Sometimes I get discouraged because of stuff like this. Like I just wanna trash everything and live an Amish lifestyle.

Nonsense. The optimal way to enjoy A/V quality from a GC is through a CRT via standard A/V cables.

    @Televator:

Again, as I've said before, S-Video is an excellent option when Component is too expensive. The colors aren't as vibrant but the picture is still crystal clear. You can find good Nintendo S-Video cables for ~$5 easy (avoid the S-Video/Composite combo cables).

I'm not Amish, but I sometimes play one on the internet.
I've never used anything other than composite or RF cables, and I can assure you all that I get as much gameplay enjoyment as any of ya'll with your fancy tvs, cables and high fadelity.

Most of the GBA games fare well on the big (CRT) screen. Yes, SOME games are more pixelly than others, but it's not like that wasn't true of them on the small screen, either, it's just that the pixels were smaller and less apparent. Personally I like pixels over blurriness, which is sometimes a problem on the small screen (and on HDTVs as well)

If I were to single out a game, you gotta pick up Drill Dozer. That was made with both the GBP and GBA in mind, and you'll get the rumble feature playing on BOTH the GBA and Gamecube.

As a later-gen 3D console, I think the GameCube is superior in progressive scan - which indeed, most of its games support. The games look gorgeous on an HD screen using the component cable, or upscaled when played on a Wii using component.

The same goes for Xbox (component) and Dreamcast (VGA).

The PS2 is the only 'last gen' console that I prefer to not run using component cables or progressive scan. Instead I run mine on SCART RGB, which looks far better than component IMO.

I don't think "most" Gamecube games support progressive scan. Maybe half. Although, the Game Boy Player does support progressive scan, which has to be pretty nice. Pity those component cables are so ridiculously expensive.

Totally reasonable, yes. However, you see, I'm a crazy person. I have this ever nagging voice in my head that constantly tells me "Hey...you know...what you're watching can look even better. Compared to that you're watching a puddle of piss."

Playing the NES is a particular form of torture for me as a result. It only has....composite....Aw gawd!!!

I was fortunate enough to pick up the GC component cable for $35.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

I think "better" can only go so far on older media.
I own the film "White Zombie"(One of Bela Lugosi's finest!) It is the the Roan Film Group edition. Its made from a laser-disc edition that itself was made from the original film negatives. This film was made in the 1930s, there is no way that watching it in HDMI is going to make it look "better" than it already does. I think the same is true for older sprite based games. At a certain point, "better" can't be achieved.
