There's still time for George Lucas to make Vader a scorpion in the movies. He's waiting for the right CG technology.

I love FC Star Wars but it's for the gameplay, not the bastardization of the movie storyline.

What I loved about Tie Fighter, was getting to see how the other half lives. See the galactic war from the perspective of the Empire. And who doesn't love doing those secret missions for the Emperor?

Seconded. Honestly, the original Star Wars arcade machine is the only Star Wars game I've ever really liked. None of the other plethora of games ever held my attention.

Even though I never played it, I gotta say Rebel Strike may be another one of my favorites only because of this:

I liked the Rogue Squadron games (both N64, and Gamecube), I liked the Beam game on NES/SMS, and I liked the arcade game with the Vector graphics, I haven't played many others to be honest.

I know its a cliche to hate on anything SNES on here, but as far as I'm concerned the "Super" Star Wars games were pure junk, I have no idea why they were so well received, the level design is amateurish, and unpolished, and its not even as though they're really that hard, they're just a kludge of random hits and less than stellar control marginally offset with loads of health items.

I think its because the graphics and music were so amazing. I wouldnt say "junk" but certainly the gameplay is flawed. The mode 7 levels were a nice touch as well.

For me I think the favorites is mainly BattleFront , Republic Commando and the KotOR games.
But I do love some of the classiscs too , like the old Famicom and Super NES ones ,
although I'm not too fond on their approach on platforming :P

    3. Star Wars: X-Wing (CD)
    4. Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance
    5. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

TIE Fighter is the best game Lucasarts has ever published, my favorite space shooter, and one of the greatest games ever made (it's easily in my all time top five), and Jedi Knight 1 is my favorite FPS. '80s-90s Lucasarts was pretty amazing. As for KotOR... it's disappointing in a lot of ways, but I had just enough fun with it that maybe it deserves that position. Maybe. Perhaps I should have given it to Galactic Battlegrounds or Dark Forces instead, I'm not entirely sure...

Also, while I can't quite put it on my list because objectively it's probably not that great of a game, I have to mention Rebel Assault because it's a nostalgic favorite of mine. That was one of the first CD games I owned, so I loved that game back in 1995, and I still find it fun... X-Wing vs TIE Fighter is also worth mentioning, even if it isn't as good as any of the other three. The first Dark Forces also should be mentioned, because it's a pretty good Doom-style game. My one issue with it is a serious one, though -- I REALLY dislike that you can't save during levels, it makes it quite hard. And I mentioned it earlier, but Galactic Battlegrounds is pretty good. It's basically a straight Age of Empires II reskin, but at least they cloned a great game.

As for the console games, I don't know if they're better than any of the PC games above -- and they are most certainly not better than the top two, that's for sure -- but I guess I could make a list.

    1. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II - Rogue Leader
    2. Star Wars: Battle for Naboo
    3. Super Star Wars
    4. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
    5. Super Return of the Jedi

    ... Yes, I liked Factor 5 a lot.

With honorable mentions to Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike, Super The Empire Strikes Back, the Sega CD version of Rebel Assault, and Lego Star Wars (1+2 Complete for Wii, preferably)Oh, and the Game Boy/Game Gear version of Super Return of the Jedi too, it's fun. If I had to mention one of the versions of Star Wars (the NES/GB/GG game), I might mention the Game Gear version -- I like the changes to the first half of the game that it makes. It's simpler but not as frustrating. As for Star Wars Arcade for 32X, it's not a great game, no, but I have had some fun with it anyway, probably as much because it's a Star Wars game as anything else...

X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter(even though it's more multiplayer-oriented than the other games in the series)

    TIE Fighter

X-Wing! This game's been my crack addiction since I first got the floppy disk and Collector's CD-ROM edition last year and have played it almost every day since, be it either to play some of its OPL2 and OPL3 music to see how good/bad OPL3 chips are or for some serious playtime in the Tour of Duty.
Similar tastes for me, except I haven't played some of those much/enough to really comment on (namely some of the newer ones -and Dark Forces), but the X-Wing series is definitely at the top . . . not sure if I prefer Tie Fighter or X-Wing more (I need to play the DOS version of Tie Fighter more to really comment . . . I should have a good DOS-compatible PC put together soon to do that justice).
X-Wing Alliance is the most immersive/atmospheric story-wise (and they got the dynamic streaming soundtrack right there -unlike the looping XvT track), but there's something special about the DOS games. (for X-Wing it's partially nostalgia, but I didn't have Tie Fighter until later -though still by the early 2000s- and just the win95 version -I only got the DOS version a year or 2 ago)
Alliance has the best multiplayer options though (better than XvT, especially with the mods available for XWA like darksaber's ultamate craft pack and other custom updates), and there's still servers running for both XvT and AXW via errant venture.

Of the console games . . . the super star wars games were pretty good but only RoTJ had a reasonable enough difficulty curve for me to complete (haven't tried cheats yet -might go back to the others with that in mind), but I'm not a huge platformer fan either so, yeah. (or, rather, I'm just not really good at most platformers, so they tend not to be that fun)

Rebel Assalut is pretty meh and inconsistent overall (some good and some bad levels and really mismatched difficulty, especially given how annoying the first stages are). It's an OK arcade-style FMV game, but pretty mediocre compared to a ton of other Star Wars games. (and X-Wing came out at about the same time . . . and with lesser system requirements than Rebel Assault too, at least for that original floppy release+expansions -and it was available in both 1.2 MB 5.25" HD and 1.44 MB 3.5" disks like several other early 90s games from Lucas Arts, Sierra, EA, etc)

There's the Rogue Squadron series (and Battle for Naboo too), though unlike most people I actually like Rebel Strike the most, perhaps due to the multiplayer (cop-op and vs), but I liked the single player campaign a lot too . . . a lot more than RSII single player. (though that became a lot more fun co-op for some reason . . . it seems more tedious single player though) Too bad there wasn't 4 player support.

There's also a few other flight based SW games I need to try, including some that did get PC releases (or try more -Starfighter seemed a bit disappointing when I tried it last, but maybe I'll take another look), but mostly console-exclusives. (and a ton of other genres I haven't gotten into that much)

I loved Galactic Battlegrounds on PC. The epic 30-minute film soundtrack that played throughout made all the difference!
