Bomberman 94 on the PCE is my favorite, I just love the style.
Though every PCE Bomberman is great. Mega Bomberman is also pretty good, tough the color and detail take a massive hit.

Can anyone elaborate on the Super Bomberman games? Are all four unique? Are they all worth getting?
You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.
Right, five. Seems daunting. Are all five differentiated? Or are, say, 3-5 basically the same?

They are all different.
IMO 4 & 5 are the best ones. Their soundtrack are not muffled as the others and the games just seem to run fine (the first two are kinda slow IMO). The levels look great and I find the whole package superior to the previous three games.
I like 5 more than the others, but many people prefer the 4th... I would pick these two if I could.
Maybe this explains something about the level of graphical detail and the soundtrack quality:
Super Bomberman -> 4Mbit
Super Bomberman 2-> 8Mbit
Super Bomberman 3-> 12Mbit
Super Bomberman 4-> 16Mbit
Super Bomberman 5-> 16Mbit
What are the differences besides graphics and sound?

Saturn Bomberman hands-down! Very, very good game, plenty of modes, good graphics, and up to 10 players! If you can find 10 Saturn controllers, 2 multitaps and 10 people, I'm sure it can be a blast.
On your own it's a pretty fun game though too, even for the price![]()
From the ones I played I'd say that Mega Bomberman and the last three Super Bomberman games are the best.
As for Bomberman games that support several amounts of players on battle mode, Saturn Bomberman and (perhaps) the DS game are the way to go.

I think current events really killed the series.
When you say "Bomberman" now most people think "Derka-derka!"

Super Bomberman 5 differs from the others 'cause it has multi-exits from the levels. Things can go crazy sometimes...
Some people hate this and others, like me, love it.
Super Bomberman 4 is like the others but better.
You can check this longplay videos for a better opinion:

I don't have much to add to this thread other than to remind everyone that the N64 saw the last release of a "real" Bomberman game, with the Japanese exclusive Bomberman 64. ...not to be confused with the US Bomberman 64.
The Japanese release was programed by Racjin (edit: corrected from Racdym) which also did the Snowboard Kids games, so the nuances may be different than the previous Bomberman games. I played this Japanese N64 version briefly and really enjoyed the true to form colorful graphics and BGM, but I'm not an experienced enough Bomberman player to comment on how the game compares to the rest of the series.
I happened to buy the arcade PCB of Bomberman simply because it was only $10 and I like to collect single screen puzzle/action games. Curiously it was published by Irem, and has Irem graphics within the game. It is also damn challenging, and none of my friends nor their kids have the balls to really try to learn to play it.
I've always been curious about the Bomberman Kart games on PS2. I think one or two were released in Europe, and the youtube videos I've watched look pretty decent. But I've never heard or read first hand opinions on those games.
