Alien soldier. Most impressive graphics on the system IMO.
Sonic 2. Incredible level design and music. Even my 5 year old selfcould appreciate it.

sonic two i have to say was probably my favorite sonic game....though i know that's a largely debated topic..i think just because i spent the most time on that one
Did not read much of the thread, do not know if this has been mentioned before but Splatterhouse 3 intro totally blew me away as a kid.
When my dad said to me and my brother 20 years ago on christmas morning 93 that he had connected the MD to the kitchen television and shouted to us it was working and on and seeing the sonic 2 title screen that was when it hit me and I was in awe that time, as it was when we had a friend round who had sonic 1 quackshot and super hang on and when I first saw those 3 games my heart literally stopped it was so freaking awesome especially so when we got 2 of them for keeps(the other one quackshot I eventually got years later) and just this morning I was playing valis 3 and that music and the game is still amazing to this day, BTW I first saw a working megadrive playing Alex Kidd in one of our local stores in Goodmayes about 10 minutes drive from our home in Romford and that was when I wanted a MD and I eventually did play that game as well
One of my best memories ever was Aladdin. When I saw it for the first time, I though it was the Sega CD judging by the sound quality and animations.
I remember I was very glad because I knew the SNES version was graphically inferior (being a Sega fanboy at the time). Other is when I first saw Angel Island in Sonic 3. I was so impressed with those large Sonic sprites, the new special shields and the animation quality for enemies and background objects, and the fire at the middle of the level. Listening to the game soundtrack I knew it was something very special. Michael Jackson style with voice samples! Mind blowing. Good times.
Castle of Illusion was prety damned impressive for the time. My buddies Dad was a PC guy and he even was impressed with the muuic and animation at the time.
Castle of Illusion for me too. Especially the level with the leaves and spiders. Awesome graphics and sounds.
Thunder Force III blew me away as well. The swirling fire was just amazing for the time, even though it's been done a lot since. Not to mention the ice stage with perfect sound effects.
Greatest moment was getting my Genesis. My dad won it at work in 94 and brought it home. I remember I was screaming and jumping around (I was 5). The console came with Columns so we played that for a while and eventually ran over to Rogers Video and rented Sonic.
Worst moment was when I didn't clean up all my game boxes in 97 and my mom threatened to throw them all away. I didn't clean them up, and she threw them all out. I didn't care much at the time, even sold off most of what I had in 2002 for $0.50ea. My only two regrets to date...
Scolirk - 205 Genesis Games & Counting
Skimmed a few pages of this thread and saw some great memories.
Some that stick out for me are:
The first time I reached the Chaos Emerald stage in Sonic 1.
The intro to Revenge of Shinobi.
Running against the wind and rain and blowing trees in Ghouls and Ghosts.
Hearing the Stage 1 music in Streets of Rage.
Some of the jumping puzzles in Landstalker.
Pretty much every second of Strider.
One of my most jaw-dropping Genesis moment is when I realized I had plugged the NES AC power brick in it.
I used to go to the arcades whenever i could, so really the Megadrive couldn't have lived up to the better audio-visuals of the coinop'd experience. I was also bitterly disappointed that the Simpsons arcade game was never ported to the MD. Konami's arcade brawlers had such nice big animated sprites.
This.

It seemed like the coolest thing in the world at the time. THe soundtrack of that game was amazing. I remember hooking up my Genesis up the stereo for the first time and I realizing what I had been missing with just mono tv sound. I could hear all sorts of thingsin thebackground that dissapeared wit the TV sound.
There were other things that no big deal are no big deal now. I remember the slimes look quite impressive and the boss battles were awesome.
To bad its just a boring game but I had the hintbook and managed to beat it back in 92.
