Default Harry Potter PC Games: Comparing them

Anyone played the video games ?

I just replayed Harry Potter and the Prisoner's of Azkaban, I played it only once, it was about 3 years ago... I have to say I'm pretty satisfied with this game. Well, the end was ridiculous, I was expecting to have a warning telling me it was my last chance to collect the 10 missing cards, but nope. A cutscene, and I can't go back in any way. I had to start another game to finish it at 100%...

Why not comparing the whole serie on PC ? I own the first one, second one, third one; I don't have Goblet of Fire (Apparently the HP sucked since this game), not yet. Will get it for dirt cheap. Also have Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince.

So my thoughts: Philosopher's Stone is great! I simply can't give that game a bad note, since it was one of the first game I ever played. Nostalgia is here! Music is also excellent, it remind me my childhood. I love that platform style that was used in HP2 and HP3. Gameplay was fluid, well, you get it. I remember back then having a crap graphic card, or maybe it was a problem with DirectX in 2003.. The walls were black everywhere, basically, the "graphics" were CRAP. So when that problem was solved, the graphics looked BEAUTIFUL as hell.

Where this game loose points, it's way too short and easy (It's for childrens, of course.). Gathering the 25 wizards cards and finding all the secrets is too easy. The game can be beaten quickly, too quickly. I did had fun with the cheats "harrydebugmodeon", Ghost Mode, Fly Mode, "givebeans"...

    For me, Philosopher's Stone get a 3,5/5.

Chamber of Secrets was even better! Keeping the exact style of gameplay, which was the best choice to take, even more beautiful, harder, longer, bigger Hogwarts to explore... Getting the 100 cards is a hard one (Still possible) ! And HP2 still have the previous cheats like Ghost Mode. It get a 4/5, since it's basically HP1, but everything's better.

Prisoner's of Azkaban... Gameplay remains pretty much the same, except we control 3 characters. This game have a lot of new mini-games, flying with Buckbeat (Unfortunately, it replaced the Quidditch, that was too easy), for example, or killing thoses Pixies (Easyyy). Even today, the graphics look really beautiful to me. Music remains similar to the others Harry Potter, that's good. Now the bad, this game is seriously too short and easy, maybe even more than the first one. I can beat the whole game in a single day (I had to retry it to gather those cards, which can be challenging)! I've beaten the game without dying even once! And "saving" Sirius at the end with all these Dementors is a joke, I'm telling you. I think Voldemort in HP1 was the hardest. XD

The game still get a 4/5, for keeping the same fun style, having different things to collect... Pretty decent, but seriously easy. Oh, I also had fun with the Ghost Mode cheat. Y'know, getting to the roof of the castle and jumping ? XD What's funny, you don't even loose any health.

Never tried HP4. The gameplay changed since this game, and then the HP games sucked hard.

Order of Phoenix is BAD. The worst of the serie, in my opinion. This is the perfect example why graphics isn't everything. Okay, the game is freakin' beautiful, Hogwarts couldn't possibly be even more HUGE to explore, but the gameplay seriously CHANGED! No more secrets to find, the story isn't similar at all to the book or even the movie... You're not free to explore like you were in HP1, 2 and 3. "Harry, we have to go see Hagrid! " You have no choice, you HAVE to see Hagrid. This suck, seriously. No more Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans to collect, the whole game is the same thing over and over again... Go see this guy, and then go see another guy... When you miss a mission, you start it over, that's all.

I had fun fighting with other students for no reason, and attacking teachers (XD) but that's all. Doing it all the time became boring. Finished the game at 100%, but what you get at the end of the game, is a freakin' movie, that's all. And there's no more cheats like Ghost Mode, this isn't the same gameplay at all. Come on, EA. 2/5.

I have to say Half-Blood Prince was a bit better. Gameplay and graphics are the same, but the game is less boring. There's more challenge. You have potions to do, and things like that. It's better, but still can't be as good as HP1, 2 and 3. It get a 2,5/5.

I've played Deathly Hallows Pt.1 on the PS3 only, and it's kind of like an FPS. It look quite decent, but I've never tried it on PC.

So, which one is the best (And the worst?), in your opinion?

I should say Chamber of Secrets is hard and long enough. Harder than the first and the third one.

The only one I played was Philosophers Stone, and that was on the PS1. What I played though seemed good.

I still have the PC version of Prisoner of Azkaban. I wanted that one thinking it was apparently gonna be like the console versions (or at least what the magazine ads said) in which you could freely explore Hogwarts.

You couldn't. It was still kinda decent, though.

I've never played the PC versions... only the handheld series (Stone and Chamber) and the PS2 version of Chamber.

Chamber on GBA was pretty awful... yet the GBC version was amazing. Shocking that they came from the same developer! Stone for the GBC was also pretty good... of course, both of them being good relies on you enjoying RPG's.

    Consoles and PC versions are usually very different;

I played a bit to Chamber on the PS2, sure it's different from the PC version.
I also own Stone on the GameBoy Color. Myself having quit the Pokemon serie, this was one of the greatest RPG I've played. An Harry Potter RPG, wow ! :O

I've finished the game like 4 times, one reaching level 100 (Invincibleeee !), and another finding all the cards. For my 5th game, I started the game in Spanish, for my class.
What was amazing about this game, you had access to every single room of Hogwarts, classroom, and even the offices of the teachers!

    That was amazing.

You see, that is how I was expecting the PC Azkaban game to be.

At least it's not like the Deathly Hallows games. A Gears of War rip-off is not what I expect to see with a Harry Potter game.

The PS1 games were pretty cool.
