has anyone on here ever played it which is the best version. Also is it as good as people make out?

The Archimedes version seemed the best one to me (nice updated graphics) but I'm not into the game on any format so I'm not the best judge. The similar game SunDog: Frozen Legacy appeals more to me.
I have seen it on the Amiga back in the day and was always envious of it. Unfortunately I saw it before I had played many polygon based Genesis games and so my rose colored memory has it running with absolutely no aliasing and 60FPS. I have no idea if that is representative of the hardware, but dang did I think that game was cool.

The Amiga and ST versions were upgraded somewhat like the Archimedes version . . . and an ST or Amiga should be a lot cheaper/easier to find than an Archimedes (if you want to use real hardware).
I'm not sure if there's issues with running it on a 32-bit Amiga (like an A1200), but if it works it should run a lot more smoothly. (the main problems would be actual incompatibility of the code or just running too fast if it's CPU timing sensitive) An Atari MEGA STE could be another option for speed-up . . . or some other options (Amiga 3000, Amiga 4000, Atari TT or Falcon) but most of those are much harder to find and/or more expensive. (there's also ST/Amiga 68000 accelerator boards, and you might find an ST or Amiga with one installed -and should cost far less than most other options except maybe an MSTE or A1200, but I'm not sure how common those accelerators were either)
I would skip Elite in favor of Frontier: Elite II.
You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.
I have Elite II on the Cd32. I recognize that it's technically an outstanding game, but it's scale is just too much for me. I can't get into it, because I'm immediately overwhelmed by the scope of the game.
A retarded Sonic.
the original bbc version was the best i played it for many months over 20 years ago
But from a gaming point of view the Archimedes version is considered the best, the ships are coloured in not wireframe and the ships fly in formation. I also think there are more missions
ps there is even a european nes version lol
not sure on this but isnt it easier to dock in the nes version?
