There's no FAQ for Young Indiana Jones over at Gamefaqs. Surprising since its not an obscure game. It was released by Sega.

Never heard of Young Indy on Genesis, I'd have to play it to provide a better opinion here.

Well, it's a frustrating game due mostly to unresponsive controls; Indy handles very clunkily. But the worst aspect of the game is the whip. It moves at a glacial pace. The enemies move quickly, but your whip has to go through this whole contortion before it goes toward the enemy. Because of this, no matter how well you play, you're bound to take damage from the exceedingly fast enemies, like the birds. Now you can get special tips for your whip that make it deliver more damage, but that doesn't change the fact that it takes forever to use it. Multiple quick enemies are attacking you most of the time in this game, and your main weapon is nearly useless. Now you also have a gun, but you get very few bullets for it and it cannot shoot in every direction, so when a snake or bird comes along, you have to use your whip. I don't know, call me old-fashioned, but I like my weapons to react when I hit the attack button. Because the whip has to go through this whole arc routine, it is like there is a long delay from the time you press attack to the time the whip goes toward the enemy. Unfortunately, during this delay, the enemy(s) have moved closer to you, so it is that much more difficult to hit them. The game just feels like an exercise in futility to me.

Yeah, I have both of these games, but the Genesis game is definitely subpar (iffy controls, annoying level designs, it's just all around below average), while Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures is a very good game. It's not close at all.

The only cool thing to come from "Young Indiana Jones" was that episode with Jon Pertwee.
