I didn't get Golden Axe until sometime in January 1990 because it was the free game I selected with the Genesis' coupon.

EGM seems to think the big December releases were Forgotten Worlds and Rambo III, they have Mystic Defender as a January release (I think Mystic Defender was another pretty good game for that early period)
