I have no problem with someone not liking a system, like eddiespruce, who can elaborate on his opinion beyond "it's shit." Calling something a "POS" isn't a critique, it's an adjective. That's the style of discussion which goes on at sites like Gamefaqs, I come to sites like this and AtariAge and LemonAmiga and PCEngineFX to get better conversations with more informed people, not those who play an emulator for a couple of minutes then trash an entire console based off of an AVGN review.

I've owned a Playstation since 1999, and I own many great games for it, but I hate the controller, so much that it makes make hate the console. If I can ever afford one of those Saturn-like controllers for it, perhaps I would change my mind, and not hate it so much.

Buy any one of the dozens of different controllers. Or, better yet, a joystick. Buy a psychopad and you can use it on your Saturn and SNES as well (perhaps Genesis too).

I'm not going to do that, but both consoles in my opinion flat out suck. I wouldn't go so far of the PCE though I certainly wouldn't want to own one w/o the CD and upgrade cards.

I didn't flame him for disliking the SMS. I'm taking down his holier-than-thou attitude based on the fact that he's talking to people with far more experience with the console in question. I don't care if you don't like the SMS or PCE. But don't come in and laugh at them and bash them when you've spent 5 minutes at a PC emulating them, and act like your opinion holds any weight.

Unless you're really old now adays, I find it hard to believe you were making enough money, that you could afford a arcade machine back then, they costed more back then, then they do now, which for what they cost now, you could buy a pretty good used car back then(now, you're lucky if you could buy a car without a motor for that price).

I bought my space invaders machine from a summer time job. It cost $400. This is exactly what I'm talking about - you constantly feel the need to talk down to those with experience based off of 5th hand, incorrect knowledge you possess. You're talking to a guy who has owned several arcade machines, telling him how prohibitively expensive they are, when you've never priced them or owned one at all. It's worse than being a know-it-all, it's being a know-nothing who things he's a know-it-all.

The arcade conversions are poor, the vast majority of games are trash, but there is still stuff worth picking up. Unique, non-ports such as Adventure, Pitfall II, Yars revenge, etc.

There is a wide difference between demanding experience, and writing off informed opinions. One is what I've done, the other is what Zoltor does. If you cannot see the difference between the two, you need to have a more discerning eye.
