If platformer wins I'll be a bit annoyed. We already have enough platformers on the Genesis, I'd be happier with a good quality beat'em up.
What annoys me is that most of the guys voting for platformer are doing it to get another RPG... Platformer is more about camera/view when combined to RPG if you ask me.
Guys who think that Monster World games are cooler than SOR2 + RPG elements/Guardian Heroes...!
I can't vote because I don't have any gems, but if I did, I would've also voted for Beat'em Up. You guys are right, we need another quality Beat'em Up on the Genesis.![]()
Hope they can include an "extreme mode" like this recent SOR2 hack:
Okay, I've made my offering and my vote. Looks as though they are going to have to make a 24meg Platformer with Beatem Up and RPG elements at this point.

"Sega tried to have similarly strict licensing agreements as Nintendo...The only reason it didn't take off was because EA..." TrekkiesUnite
That's why I love you, sheath! Don't worry about the MEG Power, it increased very fast today. We will reach 32Mbit with easiness... We have to pray for the 64Mbit cartridge.
The percentages are equal now, but Platformer is still in the lead. C'mon guys, keep up the good work!
I'm fairly certain that they will go for 64meg no matter what just to prevent rom piracy.
Also, while platformer looks ahead in the bar graph, when I hold my mouse over it the percentage is at 34% the same as beat-em up. I'm not sure what that means. I am pretty sure they are just fooling around with ways to get people to participate and preorder at the same time. It seems to be working.

COME ON PLATFORMER!!!!!!!!
I've been hoping for a while that WM or SFT would release a platformer or beat 'em up, so I'll be more than happy with either. We probably do need a beat 'em up though, and this talk of a Guardian Heroes style game sounds great. I'd be interested to see what WM could do with that challenge.
I'd choose beat 'em up but there is no way I am going to pay just to vote for it. I'll pay if the final game meets my desires.
Also, will investor editions have "OMG INVESTOR EDITION TEH SUPER RAREZ!!!" plastered all over the box?
I read the first three pages, not going to bother with the rest... Joe Redifer, what's your deal? Seriously. Your vitriolic hatred of this system is wholly out of whack with what they are trying to achieve.
You're pissed off that you have to pay money to have your opinions "heard"? Hm. Yeah, what a stupid idea. Asking the people who are going to actually play (and PAY) your game for what they are most interested in. Crazy...
Oh, but you're only interested in paying AFTER the game is made. Ok, then, you don't get a say in it's development. JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER GAME OUT THERE!!! Heaven forbid they encourage others to be part of the decision making process. (BTW, you do know that there are people of every other game that paid money to make the decisions right...?)
But of course, your argument is based on the premise that they are going to ignore every opinion that doesn't come from an investor. That's ridiculous of course, as anyone with half a brain would be able to recognize. There obviously isn't going to be a poll on each and every decision to be made. I fully expect there to be polls throughout development which will be of a general nature to help guide the game. Specific details won't have polls created, and will no doubt be discussed on the message boards. (Moreover, you can participate in those discussions and perhaps influence the INVESTORS decisions. Just like any other game.)
Your specific hatred of the "meg" scaler is also misplaced. The bigger the game the more money it costs to produce. It's pretty simple math. If they get enough capital from investors, they can make a bigger game. Why should they spend the time and money to create a huge game if the investors are only willing to pay for a small game?
Of course you also bring up ridiculous comparisons to support your argument... (Umm, I didn't see HENTAI as a genre anywhere there...) As for your argument that if someone payed them $40,000 to make a Hentai game they would... doesn't wash either. For if that person wanted that game, they could find someone else to program that game for them. (And perhaps you could hate those programmers just as much I suppose...)
What's stopping them from taking our money and running? Well, nothing. Other than personal morals and a wish to have further success making these games... but that's part of the risk of being an INVESTOR.
If you don't trust them. Well, that's your choice. However, me and the other investors are putting our faith in them based on the fact that they already created an amazing game in Pier Solar. If their next game is total crap, then I'll reevaluate about investing with them again in the future. But for the time being, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt (based on their history) and enjoy having my input during development recognized.
Once the games out I suspect you'll be eating crow. But will you be willing to recognize your error? I doubt it...
Hi, who are you again?
If they release a game I want to buy, I'll buy it, but there will be no crow eating. I don't like how these guys lied to cover-up their initially shitty decisions. Of course you will defend your stance because you are an investor. Good for you. They were able to make Pier Solar without GEMS and investors.
@ Zebbe = too late for this now but if in the future WM decides to run another such investor vote WM should sandbag its interests by means of a %5 or less Decision Margin, meaning they would publicly include from the outset a % of the vote they could override in order to sway it towards the more reasonable genre of two that were neck and neck, and since that reasonableness would rest upon business sense it would be the equivalent to awarding a popular vote over a congressional majority. Eg as the polls wind down the two leads are Dating Sim at 39% and Puzzler at 42% (the other 19% having been engulfed by various losing genres). However Puzzler is clearly a poor publishing choice and only in the lead because its investing minority is made up of members who contributed larger sums. Since the disparity between the genres is 5% or less WM as per the Decision Margin proviso could officially (publicly, openly) sway the genre choice to Dating Sim. Were the disparity greater than 5% WM's hands would be tied. So long as the proviso made public and absolutely clear before any money could be invested and every reason for WM's electing to invoke their sway power in the event there would be no grounds for complaint from those investors who didn't get their way. (Of course there will always be groundless complaints).
Also, the Special Investor's Edition should come with a gold plated Mr T sized necklace in the form of $$WM$$. Every version should include a poster of that picture of yourself you had up in your 32xtravaganza thread (I wanted to link it but it seems to be gone). Highly laminated to resist heavy kissing.
@ christuserloeser = loyalties aside, show some imagination: there are countless things that could be done with every aspect of the brawler genre; I expect WM to see these and develop at least one new thing for each. Plus there's the matter of level design; whilst SoR2's was good to very good 3's was plodding and rehashed, yet more to the point neither incorporated many things already seen in other brawlers, to wit = defined vehicle sections (TMNT), free vehicle usage (Golden Axe), variable paths (Golden Axe), scoring/ranking (Golden Axe--SoR's scoring is strictly for extra lives), climbing (Double Dragon 2, if not all them), elevated terrain (Golden Axe), and co-op skill moves (SoR 1).
I too will leave off arguing about SoR 2's quality but want to make clear the shortcomings I see are in comparison to Golden Axe.
