Hey anonymouse, sorry I can't be all roses and butterflies for you.

I like Joe, he's probably one of the most sane and down to earth forum admins I've encountered in my travels through the Internet. If you really want screwy corrupt mods, go to the official Sega Forums.

The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.
Then we set about developing killer games.

According to my percentage showed on the poll, they already raised something around $5000 only for Project Y and I saw many guys saying that they would wait the genre poll's end to invest more money. By the way, they took less than 2 weeks to raise that amount.
Doesn't feel like they are going to crash and burn...
You also have to remember that they willdomake some good money with the new run of Pier Solar (the most common language option sold out a few weeks ago) and the OST Pack.

some cunts WANT WM to fail
When I say the Magical Game Factory is going to crash and burn, I mean any games pumped out of it will suffer a loss in quality compared to Pier Solar, which was developed internally without external sway (other than the pre-order funding). That's just how committee design turns out.
It's like this one saying I've heard before. A camel is a horse by committee.
I don't get the relation between investors' opinions X quality...
And, until now, the choices are building something waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy more coool than an RPG like Pier Solar IMO.
Talking about quality, I think they will have to make some great efforts to drop the ball. They already have all the tools, and probably even better than the ones used for Pier Solar since they are developing another game since the last year... They are more experienced with the hardware and their tools...
WM was nothing until Pier Solar got released. It is not the cream of the crop by now (they are far from it) but it's certainly in better condition to develop a new game than when Pier Solar was developed. People know they exist and did a great job with their first game, it's easier now to find contributors and improve the whole development process...
I think he meant cream of the crop in Sega Genesis development in general. Meaning they are good, but not as good as the best developers we had back in the 90's. They still have a ways to go to reach that.
Seriously, stop freaking out and seeing every bit of criticism as an attack against Watermelon. It's making this thread get rather stupid quickly.
Super Troopers is still a hilarious movie.![]()
I'll second this. He isn't a forum robot whose only purpose here is to mindlessly moderate every post. Working as an admin here and elsewhere is just one of the things he contributes to the scene as a whole. There are a bunch of overly sensitive crybabies who unfortunately run from honesty like the plague and get their crosses and pitchforks ready and who would apparently just love the scene to be a completely sterile environment of silent circle jerking devoid of any discerning opinion.
The problem people have in this thread is that people have an opinion which does not absolutely fellate Watermelon for each and every decision made. Some of them exaggerate this by even egregiously insisting that the people speaking up actually want them to fail. I don't think anyone wants for that unless they have some personal spite for WM. It is clear that for what they have contributed they have also made errors, and I think the reaction comes out of a hope that they will keep things simple and not become a confused clusterfuck of a company with a general lack of direction; a one hit wonder whose only good product will have ended up being Pier Solar. That is my feeling anyways, though with some, it may be a little more personal - and for good reason from some of the things that have been said.
I'd really hate to see any one of the people crying in this thread run a country, or even an ant farm for that matter. If they had it their way there would apparently be no discussion, just a bunch of ass-patting and juice getting.
Don't worry, I repped both of those posts.![]()
There's something I'd like to make clear to everyone. I am looking forward to any game that Watermelon decides to put out. Will I buy any game they make? Well, no, not if it's something I am not interested in. But my tastes are pretty wide. Many of my questions about this whole ordeal have been answered. That said, I'll follow the development of these games and if it looks like they will be awesome, I'll buy 'em. But I'm not putting money towards a product which may turn out to be the polar opposite of what I wanted and I don't want to pay just to have my opinions heard and possibly dismissed. If anybody doesn't like the way I have expressed my opinions, tough! I don't like the way you express yours, either!
Skepticism is king!
