You seriously have to give them money to put more than one character in?

Well, technically, it's not a matter of players, it's how many playable in-game characters there are. Even two would be terrible for a brawler these days. The base value really should not have been "1". It looks like it was a canned scaler they chose to use before the genre was even determined.

It would be cool if there was like, 4-6 playable characters, had compatibility with the 6-button controller for magic attacks, and also had compatibility with a multitap of some kind so that we can have some four player action.

It would be the best Genesis Beat 'em up ever!

Well if there is only one playable in-game character, then there can't be two players unless they are both playing as the same character. It's like building a fighting game where the only guy you can select is Ryu. Nobody would build a game like that these days. NOBODY. Don't waste your GEMS on that vote. Watermelon won't let you down in that regard. Spend your money wisely, not recklessly.

I had a hearty laugh after reading this, I can only imagine if a fighter like that had come out in the 90s when everyone was cashing in on the Street Fighter II craze.

    Adventure- Story of Thor

At least the scaler didn't start at 0.
WM should threaten to only make new characters through palette swaps if they don't get enough money. It'd be like if Adam had just been a brown palette swap of Axel except WM will provide a yellow swap to make a new Chinese Axel as well and, who knows, maybe a bright white swap for an albino.

Yeah, just on the Genesis there are a bunch of those, actually. Deadly Moves, Rise of the Robots, and Shaq-Fu come to mind right away, and I'm sure I can think of more.

Dude, you can't count Shaq Fu. Why would anybody want to play as another character in Shaq Fu: when you have the Shaq Attack you don't need anything else.

Others might be Dragon: the Bruce Lee Story, Cutie Suzuki (or do they all just look identical?), Street Smart (2 characters?), and not that it's in the same boat Budokan. Other than Budokan they fall into the ridiculous class on their engines alone, though truth be told I once had an amusing afternoon with Street Smart.

Since we are going to be served a good old beat'em up, I was wondering what moves you guys would like to see in this game?

I was watching a video that featured a mediocre game for the Super Famicom called "Rushing Beat": Although the game play and graphics were nothing spectacular, the one thing that I found quite impressive was the fact you could power bomb an opponent! Seeing that move pulled off in a video game brought back memories of Kane and the Undertaker pulling off such a move. I think that would be awesome!

I imagine that the use of acquired items will probably be implemented in this game! But what I am really interested in is what type of moves will your character possess to down foes and pummel your enemies with!

I want to see running specific combo's like in Final Fight 3 (Guy's running combo gets me hard every time)
Weapon specific combo's like in Final Fight 3 (each character has a preferred weapon) (x button) also a running blitz attack ala Streets of Rage (b button)

I want each character to have a minimum of 2 basic combo's (the more powerful and slower combo "leaving you more prone to an attack" would be when you are not touching the d-pad, the other one would be if you are moving the d-pad forward "a quicker less powerful combo leaving you less vulnerable"

I have also been thinking of a "last man standing special move" (you know in beat em ups when one enemy is on the screen before you can continue to scroll) A move that would be considered rubbing it in your opponent's face and would only make sense if you can't be attacked by any one else. Booker T's scissor kick is sweet kick them in the gut "taunt" then finish him

Each character should have 4 front grapple moves (each direction on the d-pad would be a different move) makes certain moves take more damage but also leave you more prone to counter attack and quicker moves that do less damage.
Each character should have 4 back grapple moves (same as above)

    Just some initial thoughts
Beat Em Up- Streets of Rage 2
    Platformer- Sonic 3 and Knuckles
    Run and Gun- Gunstar Heroes
    Adventure- Story of Thor
    Action- Shinobi 3
