No, most jobs do not drug test you. Low level and/or government jobs do. I've worked for SAP as a software developer in the past - no drug testing. I currently am in the process of taking over my father's company - we don't drug test. Every other professional I know has never been drug tested.

You get drug tested at, like, walmart. mcdonalds. Those kinds of shitty jobs. Jobs that require a degree don't drug test you.

So you think that because I don't have a job, that I'm a bad person? Sorry, but regardless of what you say, I like my life the way it is. I actually did have a girlfriend back in highschool, but I dumped her because she didn't play video games.

Alberta jobs in the oil patch usually require piss tests. Most people I know quit smoking it and piss clean while they go to work. The money you make is well worth the sobriety and isolation. Anybody who smokes it while working deserves to lose their job. The bigger issue there is crackheads, they can piss clean after a few days, weed stays in your system for a month. Another reason to legalize. I'd rather have a sober pothead than a crackhead going through withdrawl symptoms, working with heavy machinery around me.

I can't speak on behalf of jobs outside of military support or government, since that is the career field I am currently working in.

However, I recently accepted a position in Texas as a VMWare Systems Administrator, and I was drug tested.

Non military, and non DoD.

Of course there are varying degrees of drug use, and weed would be considered one of the least harmful. Unfortunately in today's society whether you test positively for marijuana or crack, you will lose the ability to get the job.

I suppose in some cases it doesn't matter, but it just isn't an option in my career field.

For someone to say that McDonalds and Burger King are the only places that drug test potential employees is naive and ignorant.
