Did Someone say Alien Soldier!? FUCK YEAH THE GAME RULES! I've about mastered all the bosses except for 7th Force. I love the game to death cause it does something almost no other game does.
Favorite game of all time.

Honestly, I've never been a huge Treasure fan. I enjoy their games and appreciate them for being quirky and innovative, as well as their graphical prowess, but their games are not among my favorites.
I enjoy Gunstar Heroes, but don't love it. I've tried Alien Soldier and it doesn't seem like the game for me, mainly due to the issues listed in this thread. I'm not big on boss battles in general, so a game of boss rushes isn't appealing to me.
Like Nintendo with their systems, Treasure games must always have a "gimmick" as I don't think they're confident enough to make a regular ol' non-gimmicky game. But the gimmicks don't always work very well. I like Gunstar Heroes and Radiant Silvergun a lot, but that's about it as far as Treasure goes. The graphics in Guardian Heroes are just too ugly for me. Why is the scaling so damn blocky? There was no reason for that other than to purposely make the game look like crap.
Alien Soldier rulez - it's blast processing injection of awesomeness and adrenaline. It's a very high level of art many people cannot comprehend. Everything about it is near perfect. Controls are easy to master (if you don't play it on an emulator, ahem...). I've beaten it on Super Hard, so anyone who cannot do that is inferior to me. Anyone who disagrees with this is wrong. That is a fact.

I'm with the resident Swede on this. Alien Soldier is just epic.
I don't understand what you guys are talking about the controls being "complex". 90% of the game is running around and shooting. The other 10 is switching to a different gun...

Yeah, "complex" controls with 3 buttons and a D-pad. I guess you guys just CANNOT play anything N64 and beyond. So many buttons and commands, so complex! Damn, dialing a phone number is complex, even more buttons and you have to press each button in the exact right order, otherwise it won't work!![]()

Unlike the classic megman games which have COMPLEX controls. I mean you got a button to shoot, a button to jump, a D-pad with more buttons on it and even MORE BUTTONS IN the middle of controller, holy shit.

I haven't played this game yet. :-X

I am not playing it anytime soon, because I am currently enjoying shmups on the Saturn.

You and me both, it is with out a doubt the single greatest game of all time.17 years after its release and I've yet to play a game anywhere near as well designed as it, and i don't think I will.Alien Soldier is the best example of what happens when people care about a medium and have an understanding of its strengths,it is the pinnacle of game design.
Less talk more action!
Could have better music. That's its weakest area in my opinion. The select screen before the game begins is pretty good but not too much else is otherwise memorable. Treasure have never been music masters. It may set the 68000 heart on fire but the Z80's heart remains stone cold.
