there's no reason what so ever, for it to not be BC with atleast PS3 games
According to the rumor, this is using an x86 CPU. That's a pretty fucking huge reason right there for it not to be backwards compatible, and moving away from Cell is a good thing.

are they planning to beg the government for a bailout or something, seeing how Sony has forgotten how to make money, that's the only way they are gonna get dough
    Sony isn't an American company.
    A retarded Sonic.

Unless publishers+hardware companies conspired to enforce "no used games" (as such) across the board, I can't see that concept really taking off for non-DLC content. (as it will promote publishers/platforms that don't enforce such restrictions)

I just don't know what to think anymore. I don't want to sound like a luddite, but from all rumors the next-generation consoles seem like utter garbage and I don't see any reason to buy them.

As is my PS3 and 360 already get a much smaller amount of play time compared to anything else, and this is the first time I've had to buy a current generation console (the 360) multiple times because of shoddy manufacturing.

    Luddite

The Luddites were a social movement of 19th-century English textile artisans who protested – often by destroying mechanized looms – against the changes produced by the Industrial Revolution, which they felt were leaving them without work and changing their way of life. The movement was named after General Ned Ludd or King Ludd, a mythical figure who, like Robin Hood, was reputed to live in Sherwood Forest.

Sony got "infected" when they bought BGM - the parasites in the music industry spread rapidly through Sony, and now all divisions are run the same as the music division.
