None are my favorite, but I liked playing through DQ4.

Then of course Dragon Warrior VII was like a religious experience for me, and Dragon Quest VIII... somehow it BESTED being a religious experience. I love the Class system in III, VI, and VII, and the flexibility you have with your characters' growth in VIII. I haven't played IX yet, as I'd rather finish VI first.

Also, in case my banner below isn't clue enough, I'm a big, BIG Dragon Quest fan.
hehe yeah when I made the thread I remembered a guy with a dragon quest image... I just have played the first 3 on the nes and dq 8 and its AMAZING. have you ever played Dragon quest 9?

I appreciate the offer, but It's a little too modern for my tastes.

    Easily Dragon Quest 8.

    Others just don't compare.

Lol at all the DQ 8 love, It's the worst DQ game(the worst dungeon maps in the entire series, no substance to the overworld at all, It's almost all empty space, yet It's huge, one of the worst scripts ever conceived of, no real exploration, and poor replay value/side quest design. The only things I liked in DQ8 was the crock pot, and the class system, I loved how each char had access to their own set of unique classes, It's better then the 8 lv class system, that's for sure, this way each char has a unique feel. Well, not that great, the concept was great, but they could've added more to the class system, still pretty good though).

Not yet. I wanna beat DQ VI on the DS first. I'm at the end of DQ V though. My wife Debora and my children, Marco and Anette, are in Nadiria ready to kick some ass!

I still have yet to play 9 as well, but despite all the research I did, which looks all good(and lol at the complants the people who don't like it are making, It's pretty laughable), I'm still scared to pick it up(square has been really bad lately, worse then usual at that), and we probally all saw what was originally gonna be DQ 9(thankfully the Japanese put a end to that).

Square has been shit-tacular since the merger, but I feel as though Dragon Quest is the one series that's been treated right. Have yet to be disappointed by any of their releases.

8 was meh, 6 is a insult of a remake, and DQM: Joker is the worst game ever made(just about everyting that can be wrong, is wrong). On the flip side, the remake of 5 is epic(way better then the original, wait that's not saying much, the original was pretty bad, but anyway yea the remake was awesome), and 9 looks to be very good, so It's kind of a hit or miss with the DQ series since square took over.

The only legit complaint I am hearing about 9, is that despite there being a lot of quests, which is good, the quests are very bland(aka collect x items from x random monster), there's no special bosses tied to these quest, extra dungeons, exc. Aside from that though, it sounds like a very good game.
