EDIT: Agreed with Mr Smith also, when you say Mario vs. Sonic, why is it at the olympics? That should of been a platformer.
Its not supporting another console that makes think people are fickle. You bring up many valid points. Its dropping all support of one console for another console as was often the case with PS2 and Dreamcast that makes people fickle. This was especially was the case when the PS2 was released and really didn't seem any better than the DC.

I didn't post it because I couldn't find it. To paraphrase it was something along the lines of, any company can become a Nintendo license and we are very very pleased to have one of most innovative makers of video games working with us.

Since I didn't follow Sega to Saturn or the Dreamcast, I didn't mind one bit. It all really started when the PS released $100 cheaper and appeared (at the very least) just as good as the Saturn. I ended up enjoying the PS so much that I waited for the PS2, which ended up being my favorite system all-time. By that time, it felt nice to be able to play some Sega games on the PS2.

I guess you can say that I'm a much bigger Genesis/Sega CD fan than a SEGA fan. To this day, I have almost zero interest in the Saturn or the Dreamcast.

What was your reaction when sega SEGA published a SEGA game on a nintendo console? (I think that it was sonic advance on the gba) was a big surprise? did you ever think this could happen?
With so many console failures after the MD (mainly due to ill-judgment, let's face it), I was quite happy that Sega managed to save face and survive as a third party publisher/developer. This was exactly my first feeling when I learned that they turned into a software company. "At least my favourite videogame logo will still be around", I said.

By that time, it was all water under the bridge anyway. I had already jumped ship, in a way, after the Saturn proved to be a misjudgment too (I got the PSX of course, the N64 was not even an option, ever). After being satisfied with the original PlayStation, which was succesful, had great software support and a good number of quality titles, I never even considered getting the DreamCast while PS2 was on the horizon. Sad but truth.

(Still, there is something from those console wars in me... If not for the words "Rare", "Konami/Capcom", "soft-mod", "Iga", "Silicon Knights", "Resident Evil 4 / REMake" and the like, I wouldn't know what a Nintento looks like )

The Saturn would have rocked if all the great shmups came over here. I just wish I had snatched a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga while I was still young.

    Ban please!
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

Well, we all know that the Genesis was popular, and it sold just as good, if not better than the SNES in my local area. However, while I knew of the Saturn's existence, nobody I knew owned one, and I never got to play one until I purchased one in 2008.

My local video store thought Sega consoles were all going to succeed, and they had Sega CD, 32X, and Saturn games there for rental, but I never, ever saw a "Rented" clip on any of those games, they just didn't sell. I knew of the Dreamcast, but the name of it sounded corny, so I never checked it out, and never saw one until I got one just this past Christmas.

By the time the Dreamcast first came out, I was already disillusioned with newer polygon type games, and had my NES, Genesis, and SNES hooked back up, and no longer cared what newer stuff came out.
