This is the internet, where apparently we're only allowed to judge things in terms of black and white.

N64 didn't suck. That catagory is reserved for the worst of the worst. The CDI sucked, the virtual boy sucked, the jaguar CD sucked.

The N64 isn't in that catagory at all. There's dozens of good/great titles for the console which you can get many 100 hours of enjoyable gaming from. It's not in the same league as the very best consoles either. It occupies similar middle ground as the saturn. Lots of great games, loved by many of their owners but not as good as the sony console which deservedly "won" that generation.

I wouldn't put the Saturn in the same category as the N64. There are some really great games on the N64, but not anywhere near the volume of good to great games that the Saturn has.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

The N64 is just not interesting to me. There's nothing I've ever seen for it that made me think "Wow, I have to play that". A couple of my friends had them when I was a kid and even then, I could never get into it. I had a SNES back then and the experience the N64 provided didn't resemble it at all. It seemed like everything my friends owned for it was either some Nintendo game/3D platformer or kart/racing game. The PSX, which I got around that time, had the "it" factor that made me excited. I'm not going to say the N64 flat out "sucks" because just about every console has merit, but its appeal is totally lost on me. Frankly, I wouldn't take one for free, as it would be a professional dust collector.

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.

The N64 may have had some mistakes, but it has its place in gaming history. Theres no other console like it, it is unique.
Just like the 3DO which nobody cares about. N64 was a fun system for the few good games on it but let's be honest, Most of the games on that system were bleh at best.

I care about the 3DO! We're going to have to fight now, I'm afraid.

Funny, because I find the 3DO fascinating and really enjoy owning one. Unlike the N64, it had a lot of experimentation in its games.

They are very very different consoles.
But it's true that Saturn has several times more games than N64 does, just as PS1 has several times more games than Saturn does.

N64 games have aged better in terms of mechanics. Some of them were precursors to the dual analog gameplay we have today. Saturn games have aged gracefully as well, but most of them are on-rails, side scrolling, with the camera locked behind (driving) or to the side (fighting).
When a man clings to technique he dehumanizes himself, and so inhuman he has turned that others were enslaved,
because when serving technique they lack the freedom to think, and thought is the only way to find the reason why.

It has more games and covers every genre. Yeah, if you love 3D platformers and cute cart racers, the N64 does it better than either console. If you want arcade shooters, racing or fighting, the Saturn does it the best. The N64 has 2 really crappy RPGs, while the Saturn has a few really good ones.

The Playstation's library is practically un-matched in quality and quantity, but I still play the Saturn more.

My N64 library has dwindled to like 8 games and I have a hard time justifying even keeping those around.

    Mischief Makers
    Space Station Silicon Valley
    Blast Corps
Star Fox 64 (Have on 3DS now)
Doom 64 (Can play a PC port now)
    F-Zero X
    Kirby 64
    Goldeneye

Not sure why some of these survived the great N64 sell-off.

I'd add Wave Race, Majora's Mask, Pilot Wings and Rogue Squadron to the list.
