Answering to the Op: it is not you, the N64 really sucks, worst Nintendo console ever and the worst console of that generation.

Hardware wise? I'm not sure, but I have seen better graphics on the PS1/Saturn.

Well you can have your opinion........and it's a free country ......but I disagree.
I loved the 64 from day one.
I can't say that for every system I own......but they do get there eventually.
Maybe you just haven't found the right game?
I can see how you can feel that way though......there's not a thing I like about the x-box 360......
And I can tell you I feel exactly the same way you feel about the 64 as I do about neo-geo......
Which isn't even worth a second shot for me.

Mario 64 hold up very well imo . In fact for draw distance and clipping I say it far better than Unreal .

Yeah but it's barely textured. The N64 looks pretty damn good when you aren't using a lot of textures. Unreal is obviously far more technically impressive with tons of textures. So N64 games don't look like PC games, at all.

And that's why it looks so good . Mario 64 still looks great today with amazing draw distance and lets remember Unreal came out 2 years after Mario 64 . I'm not the biggest fan of the N64 GFX but Mario 64 was massive deal at the time

I'm not disagreeing with that, I'm saying that it's silly to say that N64 games looked like PC games, they didn't. If you prefer the look of Mario 64 that's fine, it's a pretty good looking game.

That depends because in 1996 PC games didn't always look great and there are a number of N64 that looked like basic PC games like Golden Eye , F1 , Turok 2 never mind PC ports of Quake, Forsaken , Doom and so on .

I think they look very different. Quake is super blurry on the N64 and really crisp on PC. Same thing for Doom which is blurry and a lot darker (love the atmosphere though, makes it feel like a totally different game).

Couldn't believe so many were actually butthurt over my opinion of the PlayStation 2 says something considering i was joking around at first despite the trolling/comedic nature of that post, now to refrain from upsetting anymore fans of the system.. yes i do highly acknowledge it does have a crap ton of your favorite shovelware titles and a few small interesting medicore-decent games (not that great IMHO) some of the game's replay value & gameplay aren't very good honestly and hasn't aged well for the most part, and yes i know the GTA trilogy has tons of replay value unless your one of those people that like to do nothing but blow up cars, shoot at things or whatever!

Me personally i just find the Saturn & Dreamcast games a hellva lot more fun than the PS2 games imo now while the system does have those great complications and all but you see there's a reason that people would most likely perfer to do emulators alot more than having to look out for a collection with bad to somewhat decent emulation when wanting something retro on the PS2.

And another thing i would to add is at the very least PC games have more gameplay variety and replay value amongst it's very huge library and yes i know PC games has a shit ton of shovelware as well but not to the extinct of seeing nothing BUT Nick jr, Barbie games, also tho laughable bottom of the well "Educational/DVD interactivity" games that had an official sony seal of approval! And you know the ones i'm talking about so with that being said enjoy your godzilla/king kong sized dump of a game library!

BTW you might want to visit your local Walgreens/CVS/RiteAid and pick up some Preparation H, I've heard it does wonders for severe cases of ButtHurt like yours.

Keep in mind that game mags also described 480i/p DC/PS2/GC/XBox gen 2D games as having "SNES quality graphics".

Quake looks like a PC game not as good but like Doom it looks like a PC game , same goes for the likes of Hexxen , F1 GP and so on Quake II, The world is not enough , Clover . Just becasue a game is blurry doesn't mean its can't look like a PC game

I didn't say that I agreed with them, but the fact that Next Generation, which was about as close to anti-N64 as you could get back then (they were extremely critical of it and rightfully so), gave a 5 star rating to Turok 2 was surprising. My friends and acquaintances at the time, were impressed with Turok 2's graphics in 1998. The first two Turok games (especially the sequel) did attract the attention of people who were not otherwise interested in the N64.

I mean going from that infamous May 1997 Next Generation 20-page special about the "Nintendo 64 breaking up?", which featured many of the valid criticisms of the N64 I've read in this thread to that glowing Turok 2 review in the November 1998 issue was shocking. They didn't flip-flop on the console at all, but Turok 2 was impressing folks who had either given up on the N64 or who just didn't care.

The Turok games we're good head-turners to get people to notice the N64 as a major player, and unlike a lot of console FPS games they break away from the corridor-room-corridor-room indoor formulaic style that a lot of early FPS games suffered from, all whilst being on a console that didn't really lack a large FPS library to begin with. The N64 has plenty of those.

I don't really like it much personally, but that's just me.

LMFAO! oh no i'm not butthurt at all like some of you guys that replied to my post but uh thanks for pointing me to the right thread so i could continue my bitching over there instead :P

so now finally back on topic about the Nintendo 64.. now, about my thoughts in all of this um for starters i've grew up on the system like A Black Falcon did and i was pretty big on single player type games so games like Glover, Bomberman Hero & Mischeif Makers were pretty cool decent titles for it's time in my opinion and now trying to go back into playing them would be similar to what i thought about some of the PS2 (Early-mid) ones , i don't really want to return to them and felt that the replay value or bonus extras or content to me were non-exsistant and it feels once you beat it completely you don't wanna play it again since you have nothing to do after finishing up everything you've done throughout the entire game.

Now as for the graphics, i don't know what ABF must've been smoking but those visuals were pretty blurry IF you had played the real thing on a old standard television screen via AV composite and i'd quite remember this with a "few" N64 games like Hexen, The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of time, NBA Showtime NBA on NBC, Banjo Kazooie, Body Harvest, Goldeneye 007, Jet Force Gemini, Mischeif Makers, and Mortal Kombat 4.

Now with the Expansion Pak admittedly some of it's visuals tend to get a bit less blurry if i'd recalled, now the games i'd remember not having much blurrness was Bomberman Hero, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Banjo Tooie, and The Legend of Zelda - Majora's Mask for the very least.

I also remember my cousins and many of my friends back then all owning a PlayStation 1 while a few other cousins and small other friends/classmates had a Nintendo 64, and i also remembered that a few Walmarts and Toys 'R US and Hollywood Videos and Blockbusters having LOAD tons of PS1 games compared to the small - kinda mid selection of N64 games and i'd felt sorta bummed out by not having one till i gotten a PS2 for that reason so i could finally play some of the stuff i've missed out.

so that's my two cents on the whole thing!
