It proves that their incredibly asinine member application process does nothing to keep the losers out. Seriously, the admins on that site need to get their head out of their ass and run that thing like a regular forum instead of the egotistical circle jerk that it is.

Hot damn! It seems like it's been months since any good drama rolled through here. This thread's gonna be epic.

There is no keylogging, it's a mistake. The anti virus being tripped over is due to the code obfuscation. The game does take keyboard inputs when it's out of focus, but doing that isn't wrong.

Nothing is perfect, but it does catch alot of them and if they do make it through and slip up they'll be misfits quickly. It's second-only to SEGA so it makes sense to have such a system in place.

Perhaps Sonic Retro should have explicitly done that themselves over a year ago because as far as I can tell they didn't. Also, the entire team has to take some blame here. If everyone was opposed to Lost's attitude then why didn't they replace him? Given the apparently wretched performance of the engine, DRM infestation, and now this shit storm, would it really have been a huge loss?

I wouldn't know for sure. Crap happens and some people are probally better at putting up with it than others.

I think it's funny that this project has been in the pipeline for years and years and we are at the 'alpha phase', i'm pretty sure i downloaded a tech demo in 2005? So I guess maybe we'll see the final release by the 50th anniversary of Sonic?

EDIT: Off by some years, 2008, but still, that is a long time inbetween a 'tech demo' and an 'alpha'

That's not out of the ordinary for fan projects and it's the reason most of them die because people lose interest. It's not their job to program the game. They have real lives and better ways to spend their free time. And then for stuff like Sonic 2 HD you've got lots of drama and infighting and morons who think they're god's gift to programming.

The Wing Commander community just released an ambitious fan game, Wing Commander Saga (http://wcsaga.com/). It took them over a decade to do it.

Well, judging from the threads I read at Sonic Retro, they are wasting time. If they spent less time arguing over what shade of green the grass in Hill Top should be and doing a million sprite revisions of Sonic because 'he's the wrong colour', they might of got a bit more work done.

What they have done though, is good.
