    Default Snes Help

    Hello,
I just tried the yuv mod and now my system will not power on.
I heated up fresh solder on the ac port and no luck.
I removed the fuse and tried to use desoldering braid as a bridge and no luck.
I am going to get a replacement fuse tomorrow and if that fixes my issue.
    I can't see how adding 4 wire's could fry a system
I noticed after powering on the system the first time the ground for the video was lose so I fixed that .
Any advice would be great. This snes has a switchless region mod done to it so I would hate to have another snes modded again.

You probably grounded a voltage line somewhere, it happened to me once while doing an RGB mod on a TurboDuo. Remove your wires on the video encoder and try again.

I removed the wire's and still nothing happened.
I did that before I removed the fuse.
I am going to radio shack today any way so I will get a better solder sucker.

If it doesn't work when you bypass the fuse with wire, putting the fuse back in won't do it either. There's nothing magical about fuses. They're just wire that breaks easily.

Get some pictures of the area you worked on.

My recommendation is to throw the SNES away and pick up a Genesis immediately.

At this point I think I need a pro modder to save the system.
I can't see how this went wrong.

The attachment doesn't work. Man, the staff really needs to do something about that. Sean, you should use a separate image host instead, like Imageshack, Flickr or Imgur.

But yeah, inserting a mod and no more power-up means voltage is grounded somewhere. It could be as simple as a piece of solder getting stuck between a couple of pins somewhere in the system. You should just inspect the entire board, like around the ICs.

    I can't see anything touching.

Try a jumper wire on your fuse instead of desoldering braid. I know braid is made of mostly copper, but I'm not certain it's a great electrical conductor. Or just wait to get the fuse.

I found the problem 2 wire's can lose from the original region mod so I am going to pm the person that did the mod for me.

Desoldering braid is just finely woven copper wire which has been coated with solder flux. It's a superb electrical conductor.

    Glad you got it working.

It's not working yet I am going try to mail the system to the person that modded mine so he can fix it.
Before, I really kill the system. I have a spare snes so I am going to try the yuv mod on it.
