Not video game related, but years ago when I was a kid and had a subscription to Nintendo Fun Club (Then later Nintendo Power); I wished that instead of just looking at grainy screenshots, I wish I could press a little button or something in the magazine and it play a sample of the music. I always wondered what the music was like.

Later, instead of a musical magazine, they started including CD's where you could play a DEMO of it - much better than what I had in mind.

GOOD Flash carts for cartridge based system

But I can't really think of much. Ugh.
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

When I was a kid, a neighbor gave us one of those old electronic football games with plastic figures that moved on a vibrating board. It was kind of cool that you could paint the figures like your favorite teams but trying to make them actually run plays was maddening. It did get me interested in videogames, football games in particular. By the time the Genesis came out, we were getting great football games like Montana, Madden, and Cyberball. And unlike those little plastic football players, these football players could actually carry out complex assignments.

I got interested in racing games with Revs+ for Commodore C64. Although it was a great game, it was slow as molasses. Again, with the Genesis, I started to see some racing games that were actually fast. I was really into Jaguar XJ220 for SegaCD. Then I got Virtua Racing and was really amazed because it had "true 3D" without being extremely slow. I had never played anything like it before.

That's a good one. Tecmo Bowl was the closest thing to playing football, and then Madden came out.

A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

Not a HUGE thing but when I first played GTA III (my first gta) I always wanted the option to be able to get into buildings and explore inside of the cities. THANK YOU VICE CITY AND SAN!

    The Star Wars prequels
    The Hobbit movie(s).
(Those two will remain my most satisfying Hollywood decisions).

The Dreamcast. (For those who didn't know much about Sega back during the Dreamcast days, it is a notable fact that we Sega hardcore fans had already foreseen the end of Sega with the Saturn. That we got such a perfect system to relinquish all doubt that Sega was ultimate truly made my year (1999), and the next three after that. I will never forget those days. I don't give a crap about the Sega of today, but I do know for a fact that our Sega of those days did go out with a glorious bang! Fuck yes. let the Dreamcast Live on!

Video conference in my pocket (i.e.-my iTouch 4). I pay literally $60 a YEAR for my Skype phone (including my phone number). And I don't even need that to be able to interphace with people via video chat. That's beyond Dick Tracy crazy shiznitz right there, if you asked me. I love the future.

    Yuck

A game where you could create your own super heroes, it finally came when City of Heroes came out, but recently the developers have completely trashed the game, and they turned the game to shit by releasing all these overpowered and stupid powers and items. Now all anybody does is PvP Now all it's about is who can farm the most items and money and make the most overpowered character that can dominate PvP. its stupid!

I wanted a game where you got to play as the dragon for once, instead of being the people trying to kill it. The I of the Dragon did it.

I wanted a game where you got to play as a werewolf for more than a short span of time. Darkstalkers did it.

I wanted a game that, just for once, the characters really looked like they were walking on the ground, and not skating over it. Heavy Nova did it.

Before Jet Grind Radio came out, I always wanted a game that involved graffiti, having to tag various locations. So far I have loved every game with that sort of mechanic that I've played: Jet Grind Radio, JSRF, Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure, and de Blob (not depicted as graffiti in the game but it works similarly). I haven't yet played Spray for Wii, but I suspect that when I do, the honeymoon will be over.

I also used to wonder why they didn't make 3D games with a hand-drawn look. Jet Grind Radio gave me two things. Although Fear Effect came slightly earlier.

Hopefully not too off-topic but then there is all of the cool stuff that I didn't wait for years and it came anyways. Games like Herzog Zwei, I never would have thought of a game like that. Or Virtua Fighter, I never would have thought of making fighters out of polygons and was stunned when I first saw it. Or the 32X, I never expected my old Genesis to get such a performance boost!

I wanted a 2D fighting game with Tekken style juggle mechanics rather than links and chains like in Street Fighter or Guilty Gear. Mortal Kombat 9 did that.

I wanted an X-Men game where you could play as a team instead of just one character at a time. X-Men Legends did that.

I wanted modern, actually good renditions of Genesis games. Sonic Generations, Rocket Knight, and Hard Corps Uprising did that.
